what are the negatives to Windsor Hills?

we stayed in a condo at WH last year. We had no problems at all. NIce and quiet condo, pool had lots of people but not crowed, very close to WDW, clean, no problems at all.:thumbsup2

We stayed President's Week in WH. We booked through floridasunvacationhomes.com Our pool home was called McDuck's pad-4 bed 4 bath-perfect in every way!

The agency provided a binder with all of the information we needed-even hurricane preparation!

We want to return, next year!

We just left Windsor Hills yesterday after staying one month in a 3 bedroom Townhouse. The one negative about our whole stay was the guard shack. Some times it was a breeze going through, other times the guards would be signing visiting guest in on both sides and it would take up to 10 minutes to go through the gate.
They really need a better system.

Honestly, no negatives at all. The place is awesome. I 've been there and Westgate Villas and WH wins hands down. Having the privacy of the pool was great, and the big shared pool was a nice change. Great central location...clean...nice staff..I can't see why you wolud go anywhere else.

Do you have to check in the the guard every time you go in and out? Don't you get a parking pass? We will have 3 cars with us. Is that a problem?

They give you a parking pass and just waive you through after you first check in.

:)

At least they are careful and only letting people into the complex that are permitted in there! :thumbsup2

I totally agree with you ;), but I spent 28 days there, and it gets old after awhile. They have two gates, and if they only used one side to check in new guest, then the other side could be used for owners, and the guest who have already been checked in.

I'm so glad to read this thread! I just booked a condo at WH for next January.

But, I rented directly through the owner. I see many of you went through VRBO or FLSunvacations. Is there a reason to do that over going directly through the owner? (I checked him out thoroughly - he's up to date on his taxes, I got a good review about his condo from someone who stayed there recently, and I spoke with his management company.)

I'm so glad to read this thread. :goodvibes We booked directly through an owner and got a great deal for Nov. :cool1:

I know this is about negatives...but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE WH!! We stayed 2 yrs ago and are going back this May!! :cool1:

I think WH is one of the main reasons my DH agrees to go back, he loves all the space w/ our family of 5 and he loves the splash pool!!;)
He actually continued to talk about how much he loved "our" TH when we returned home last time!!

I think the prices are great for all you get!! Very reasonable! We live in COLO. and take weekend trips to the mtns here and there and to rent a TH is extremely expensive and they don't incl. all of the amenities WH has.

Also, for a family of 5 you can't beat the value vs. staying onsite...

We can't wait!!:dance3:

Just working on finally updating my trip report when I popped over here to check things out.

I wanted to let everyone know that while I LOVE Windsor Hills to be careful and aware that it is still Orlando and they do have issues . Our last trip as we were pulling up there had been a break in. Apparently someone got in past the gate without a tag and had been driving around scoping put houses. I dont know how they did but it does happen. From what the guards told me it had been happening at the surrounding resorts as well.

Didnt want to be a downer about Windsor Hills . I love it there myself. But wanted to let you all know to be careful. Make sure you always remember to lock your sliding doors ad maybe even rent with a owner that adds on additional security measures as ours does. You have a lot of people that are working on the lawns and cleaning the homes and they know when people are there or not. Same can be said for Disney of course but I think a added measure of care is needed at WH and any other place set up similar.

For anyone considering going do so. Its a great way to relax and stretch out and you get so much more for your money than you could anywhere on property not to mention your accomodations are much nicer than some of the villa's Disney offers at extreme prices.

OK, we are back from WH... I have to say we loved it. Only negative that I had was that their pool closed too early.

That was the only negative for us too. We stayed in a condo so we didn't have our own pool. But we loved everything else about it. I don't think we will stay onsite again.

The only negative I can say about Windsor Hills is that I missed the "Disney Magic" of staying onsite. I loved our condo and all the ammenities at
WH but still missed being immersed in the magic. We were on property within minutes using 192 (Sherberth Road seemed longer to us), the price was 1/2 of what we would've spent staying at POR, but still missed staying onsite (and using the DDP). We will definitely stay at WH again!

Hi, this is my first post. I am planning a trip for my family and was glad to see Windsor Hills is so highly recommended. Could someone point me in the right direction on where/how to check prices and availability there? I have checked Villa Direct, but there seems to be a lot of negativity about them so I am unsure about booking with them. Any help would be appreciated!
