We will pbbly not do the Disney Parks this year, so we might look to stay somewhere else beside on-site. We'd like to take advantage of Universal 7 day multi-park tickets. Do they include CityWalk? Anyways, what is the closest off-site hotel to Universal? preferable something decent for less than $70 a night? Thanks!

Are you driving your own car? Or will you have a rental car?

Under $70 is kinda tuff, it's almost the new "dive" level of hotels depending on what time of the year you visit.

My offsite page is here.
Offsite
I tell most to stay at the Best Western Universal, clean rooms, free breakfast within walking distance. There is a BW across the street from Wet N' Wild that costs less, but it's a larger hotel and they don't have free breakfast.

Decent and under $70 does not seem to go together. We stayed at the Sheraton Studio City which was real close to the park but I am sure it was over $70. It was real nice but it was part of a package so I do not have the actual price.

We have stayed many times at the Clarion for about 70 dollars but it depends on the time of year, when are you going?I know you might get a under 70 dollar room on I drive across fron wet and wild but I have never been inside any of them,Iknow they get bad reviews

You'd have to go down onto I drive to find anything in that price range. I've stayed at the Days Inn on Caravan right at the Main Enterance. It's as basic a hotel as you can get and I4 is right behind it so It's a little unnerving:scared1: but it ws $55 the room was clean.

Just for fun, I checked rates from June 13-15 at BW and Motel6.

Motel6 has rates at $55, there's one at 5909 American Way. I've stayed at this hotel and it's fairly new. The BW Universal is $69 a night, so is the Movie Land across from WnW.

The Motel 6 is less, but it's a "dive" hotel and doesn't have free breakfast. That's why I keep recommending the Best Western Universal as the budget hotel. It's within walking distance, so you don't pay to park, free breakfast, and clean rooms.

I'm sure those rates will be more July and August.

Hi, everyone... this is my first post and am finding this site very helpful, so I thought I would try to put in my two-cents. :) My family always stays at the LaQuinta on Major Blvd. (right behind the DoubleTree Hotels) which is right outside the Universal gates. My husband gets a corporate rate. We are going June 16-23 and are paying $68 a night. I believe regular rates are about $80 per night. But they have a decent continental breakfast-fresh made waffles, cereals, fruits, etc. But I love that it is so convenient to the park. We love going to City Walk at night several times when we are down there and it's nice not to have a long drive back. The LaQuinta is a pretty basic hotel, but it's clean, friendly, convenient to US and I-Drive, and has a good breakfast. Can't beat it for those rates. I'm a cheap-skate, so I gotta find the best deals! :)
I look forward to reading everyones tips and stories on this message board!

Well you can get the Doubletree Universal for $71 per night which is the closest offsite. I have stayed there about 12 times and its always been fantastic. That would be my recommendation anyway.

Fairfield Inn, International Cove - just off IDrive - is a Universal approved hotel and is spotless. We stayed there for a week on our first Orlando trip and couldn't get over the service, location + cleanliness of the place. Free buffet b/fast too! (also has free wifi, gym, heated pool, jacuzzi, laundrette)

They have great deals at the mo for 3 nts or more and you get 2 x free adult 7 days tickets valid for Universal, IOA and City Walk. Was under $380 last time I looked and this includes early opening days.

Look it up on:
universalorlando.com - click on vacation packages and then create your own package

(MAKE SURE THAT YOU PICK THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL OR $181 WILL BE ADDED FOR PARK TICKETS)

I'm currently at the Quality Inn Suites on Windhover which is about 0.3 from the Universal Gates. I'm quite pleased how nice these rooms are. I wasn't expecting much for $58/night but I'm more than pleased at this point. Not to mention free wireless ;)

stay away from day's inn universal!... bad bad bad.! I am far from pickey also:headache:
