We are new members and since I have June UY with SSR, I cant call for reservations until June 1 when our building opens. We really wanted to go the third week in September to VWL. What are the chances there will be anything there at all when I call? Ok. You all can get off the floor and stop laughing at me now.

I think from what I have read here before, that you will have a good chance to get something in Sept. I think Sept. is not that busy a month with schools in session and before the FW event occurs. You can call the minute you put your $500 deposit down. If you don't have a membership number yet, just call Member Services. They will ask a few questions and release your membership number to you.

You can definitely book your September vacation now. We just bought last week with an August UY and we have our OKW GV booked for September already!

I did call this afternoon and the CM told me that I had to call back June 1 because thats when everything would be finalized and we would actually have our points then. I was very dissapointed as I thought I would be able to book now. Maybe I should try again then?

Mellie2162: Sorry, I just reread your post and saw you really want WLV. I still think you have a chance, expecially if you try day by day and go on the waitlist if you need to. Who knows maybe you will not even need the waitlist. Good Luck!

We booked our trip the same day as our $500 deposit. We even got our confirmation letter for our September trip.

The only restriction you may have is using it before June. However, they can get around that as well. You just need to be persistent!

why not go ahead and book SSR and waitlist the one you want? We just bought last monday (SSR) and i made ressie's as soon as i opened my packet with my id!! At least you'll have a placed reserved...just incase!!! Had no problem at all!

Ok this is what my guide told me too. He said you can call and book as soon as you want but you can't physically go until after June. I explained that we were planning September and he said that was perfect, no problem. I will give a call back to MS and try again, if they tell me no then I will explain what my guide said and see what they say. Maybe the CM wasn't aware that this was possible. Would I be able to borrow points for this trip or is that not allowed yet?

I would have done this had the CM allowed me to make a reservation, however, he told me that I couldnt book anything until my building actually opened in June. Ugh. I need some Tylenol.

i don't see what the problem may be. My guide said the same as yours, that as soon as you have your id, you can book at your home resort. Matter of fact we still have not sent back our documents due to an error ( should come today fedex) but i made a reservation last friday....no problem. I would call your guide and see if they can help. Sorry your having a hard time!! Missy

I agree with the others. Call back - you should be able to reserve now even though you can't actually stay anywhere until after your building opens.

If the CM says no again, politely ask for a Supervisor. It is possible that there is some "system glitch", but that is MS' problem, not yours. If needbe, call your guide and ask him/her to talk to MS. You should not have to wait until June to make the reservation.

I think the problem is she is not "offically" a member until her building is declared into inventory. I tried reading all the stuff on the new offer and got VERY confused about what you could or could not do (and besides I don't NEED anymore points! LOL!)

We had a similair situation when we purchased. The way it was explained to us was:

1) We couldn't make a reservation outside of DVC until we closed--basically when our building opened in June. (So that ruled out places like Disneyland or the Polynesian.)

2) We could make reservations immediately for DVC resorts--ANY DVC resort--within the reservation window, as long as we didn't travel before closing.

This was substantiated by MS. I think you may have had a CM who was either mistaken or didn't understand what you wanted to do.
