What are the chances...?

So I'm planning an anniversary dinner - I have managed to snag an 8:35 ADR at the Rose & Crown on Friday, Oct 28. Illuminations is at 10 pm that night. My DBF doesn't know about this reservation.

I would REALLY like to get a fireworks view patio table - I have called and advised them it is our anniversary (well, technically on the 31st but we couldn't get an ADR that night) and tried to request it but was told they can't make that sort of request; that I have to ask when we get to the podium to check in.

If I stop by Guest Services in the AM, or stop by the restaurant a couple hours ahead of our reservation time, what are the chances of them making a notation and maybe sprinkling a bit of pixie dust our way?

BTW, my DBF won't be disappointed if we don't get a patio table - he has no idea about this reservation, and no clue about the patio. This is his first visit to WDW since he was a very little boy (30 years ago!)

Yeah, you can only ask at the podium; however, I think 8:35 PM is the perfect time for a reservation for a 10 PM Illuminations. When you check into the podium, I would ask for the patio, and let them know that you're willing to wait. I've never had to wait more than 45 minutes and have always gotten a patio seat.

1) It seems like EVERYONE has a special occasion in order to try to get fireworks tables.
. . . I get such requests almost daily at the Concierge Desk
. . . we politely shrug such requests off
. . . it would not be fair to other guests to give such special treatment to others
. . . after all, how do we know why the event is special?
. . . in your case, you even said the date was not the even the special date
2) Guest Services CANNOT help, as they will refer you to the restaurant podium person (aka, SEATER).
3) It then becomes the purview of the ASSIGNER as to which table your get.
4) And, no, YOU don't get to speak with the AASSIGNER although the SEATER can send a text addition to the ASSIGNER on the ressie.
. . . if they wish
. . . some do and many do not even do this
. . . it is at the sole discretion and initiative of the SEATER, and not a requirement
5) Once the ASSIGNER enters your table into the computer, the SEATER must follow the placement and show you to THAT table.

I would ask for the patio, and let them know that you're willing to wait.

PATIO-or-WINDOW SEATS FOR FIREWORKS:
. . . you CANNOT wait for a patio or window tables or make an ADR for such
. . . you must take whichever table is offered when it is offered.
. . . if not, your ADR is canceled.
. . . too many people would wait for a viewing table.
. . . if they didn't get it they left, so, there were unused tables, lost revenue.
. . . now, the policy is you take what is offered
. . . the Podium person verifies you will take the offered table

I know where I live a little hand$hake goes a long way. Don't know if the same applies to DW restaurants but it's worth a shot if it means that much to you.

1.5 hours for rose and crown is too much lead time...in my opinion.

And the place will likely shut down around that time and there's a lot of partying to be done back at the commons at 10 o'clock...

Just saying...

Lol...where you live is practically a different planet...the Mario puzzo way is long gone everywhere else...or never existed.

Thank you, that is exactly the information I was looking for. I don't expect special treatment - I didn't think of it from the point of view you expressed, but that makes alot of sense. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it clearly!

I'll be happy with any seat, but a girl can dream, right? :)

Mario Puzzo has absolutely nothing to do with it. Have you ever tipped a bartender at a busy establishment at the beginning of the night and in return your glass was never empty?

Ok we'll have to agree to disagree. You keep believing that, and I will keep sitting at the good tables....lol

And Mario Puzzo has absolutely nothing to do with it. Have you ever tipped a bartender at a busy establishment at the beginning of the night and in return your glass was never empty? Meanwhile many others at the bar were practically waving bills in the bartender's face only to continue to wait. Just one example. I could list dozens of others.

In the city works in the city...it's generally useless everywhere else.
