What are the chances....

My husband and I are taking a cruise for our anniversary. I called this morning to see if we could get a table for just the two of us and not have to sit with anyone else. She said it all depends on how full the ship is and that she would note our account. We are going the end of Feb (Feb 28th) and have main seating for dinner. Do you think it is possible that we will get a table to ourselves? So far there are lots of rooms available. Just wondering if anyone else made that sort of request and if it was granted? We have had no trouble getting our own table when we cruise with the kids as it is 4 of us but totally different with just two. We are crossing our fingers :)

You would have a better chance at the late seating.
Even then, I would not count on it.

I'm seriously doubting that you'll be successful. Two factors are working against you;
  1. Main (first or early) seating is very popular on DCL because of the number of families with children. That means its not likely that they will be able to accommodate your request.
  2. Late February is a pretty busy time of the year for cruising so its likely that the ship will be very full. Again this means its not likely that they will be able to fulfill your request.

Keep your fingers crossed and you might get some magic - just don't get your hopes up.

Try switching to late dining. Or try and get a Palo reservation for every night.

You cant prebook palo dinner more than once ahead of time. Not till you board and there are still spots left.

We have had a table to ourselved for just two, we didnt request it, just the server and that is what they gave us.

I would think if you are on the magic or wonder it will be easier since there are more smaller tables for 3-4 in general.

Late feb is not that popular of time. If schools are in session then there will be less kids and families.

It is def possible, but late could be easier but DCL does try hard to honor requests.

I hope your request is granted but don't count on it. I requested a table for just the 3 of us on our cruise a few weeks ago. I thought our chances were good since our cruise was not full. We were seated at a 6 top with another party of 3.

It is difficult to know your chances. You made the request on your account, what you can also do is when you board the ship go to where the dining changes are being made and you can check to see if your request was granted, if not politely ask if you can have it changed then. Certainly you could also at that time inquire about changing to late dining, but it just depends on how important dining time (early vs late) to dining alone is for you.

After boarding, go to "dining changes" and ask if you are seated alone. If not, ask if it is possible to do so at that time.

No one can tell you what the chances are. We have been seated alone each time we have asked for it, but we also ask for late seating.

If you are seated with others and don't want to eat with them every night, you can do Palo at least once (it is sometimes possible to get additional reservations after the first day), Remy (if on a newer ship), and the pool deck restaurant (not first or last night). This is a sit down restaurant for dinner, cruise casual, walk in. That just took care of at least 3 nights...don't know how long your cruise is, but you could eat on the pool deck 5 of 7 nights if desired.

When we went we were at a 6 top, ended up being just my dad and I the whoooollllllleeee time. Our waiter said there was a younger couple and another parent/older child, but both got earlier seating. We didn't request it and we were on the Fantasy middle of July.

Your will improve your chances if you request late dining and/or are sailing on one of the newer ships, whose dining rooms have a have a higher capacity.

Thanks everyone! We will be on the Dream so that may help a little??

I am going to check after we board and we can change to late dinner if needed.

Thanks again :)

I was on the Dec 8th Fantasy cruise, second seating, We were seated at an 8 top with one other couple, and there was a 4 top nearby that had a couple every night. I was also told that our phantom partners switched to first seating.

Good luck. I second asking after you board the ship.

We honeymooned on the Dream in March 2011. We requested to have our own table, if possible. Fortunately, we had our own table the entire cruise!

We did, however, request second seating... We weren't too crazy about eating early, it was kind of nice watching the show first and not having to "rush" after dinner/dessert!

Have fun! :dumbo:
