What are the chances of Yacht Club Villas

Looking at the satellite photo, it's pretty amazing to see how large and sprawling the buildings are. I can't identify something. Just north and west of the SAB pool is a large unidentified building extending into the parking lots. Looks semi-connected. Is it more rooms or is it a convention center?

That does sound like the convention center. It's a fairly large building that has one end just a very short distance from the YC or there are entrances from two (maybe 3 but I definitely recall 2) of the parking lot sides.

When we first bought into DVC a few years back, I brought up the possibility of YCV but generally received the response that there wasn't enough room. Realizing now how much money Disney appears to be making selling DVC, I can't imagine that YC won't eventually have DVC rooms. As Dean mentioned, there is a lot of room nearby, just not in a terribly convenient spot. Another possibility he eluded to was adding on to BCV as there is land nearby. I have also wondered, though, if that land was unstable for building otherwise I think they would have made BCV larger from the get go. Adding on to BCV would be kind of a mess, though, as that would create either 2 different expiration dates or would require a BCV extension.

I think any new resorts in the Epcot area would sell "Poly" (ie ridiculously) fast. Most new buyers don't buy resale or the older resorts, they buy what Disney is pushing, and that location would be an easy sell.
As I noted, I don't know about the additional land near the BC as to it's stability or if it could be protected land. There are other explanations as to why they didn't extend that direction and make the BCV larger. One would be the view and impact on the resort itself and the other that they really didn't know how popular it was going to be and how well it would sell being next door to BWV and being effectively higher points.

Sooo . . . I guess the question is, how would this work? I recall reading that the number of points had to remain even for the life of the . . . something. Can they add points by adding rooms and would the point chart have to be exactly the same for the new wing as it is for the existing wing?
IF they made it part of the original resort (like the OKW addition and THV) the points chart and principles would have to stay true to the current BCV documents. However, they could make it a separate resort with it's own requirements. I'm inclined to think that if they keep up the current trend it's unlikely they'll add on again at BC, I'm not sure if they would do YC but they certainly could.

That's the convention center, look on a YC map and you'll see it.

First, I will share what I know and then add an opinion.

A friend of mine is a former cast member at the Y&BC. It is my understanding that the YC convention center is quite popular, because of the resort's size and theme. Actually, it is common for the resort to host more conventioneers than vacationing guests. With 630 rooms, 2 large ballrooms and 21 breakout rooms, the YC easily accommodates small- to medium-sized conferences. Converting existing rooms to DVC rooms would remove rooms from the potential conference/convention block, through which conventioneers book. Needless to say, a YC DVC would most likely be an add-on or new freestanding building.

Regarding my opinion, the Epcot resorts area is already quite developed. Six resorts surround Crescent Lake: Beach Club, Beach Club Villas, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Dolphin and Swan; if you parse BoardWalk Villas from BoardWalk, it is actually 7 resorts. I suspect post-Polynesian DVC development will be somewhere else in "the world."
