What are the chances of an Oct wait list coming through?

Going to the world for our first MNSSHP September 29-October 2. I just called member services and was able to get a reservation at SSR for Sept 29-30. I wailisted there for the other 2 nights and also wait listed for a studio for the whole time at VWL. I have never been to WDW this time of year. Anyone have any idea what I should expect? I am wondering if I should go ahead and make a cash reservation somewhere for the other 2 nights? Is it a lost cause?

I don't think it is a lost cause but I would also keep calling to see if something else opens up for those nights at other resorts.

With the limit of two waitlists, there are other options which you won't know about until you call.

We had this happen in summer of 2009. We were booked at AKV and VWL but really wanted to try (first DVC stay), the Epcot area and BLT. I could only wait list for BLT and even then, only two of the three views.

So, I kept calling a few times a week to see if either BWV or BCV opened up. On one call, it did so I switched the AKV nights. Eventually, got a few BLT nights as well.

In the meantime, it won't hurt to check out cash rates and get something books so you have it. Good luck!

I've been looking to add the night of sept 30th in a studio at BCV for a while now....I keep checking but no availability .....I hope we both get lucky

I'd make the cash reservation either at a Value or off-site to be safe. I've been on a wait list for 10/23-10/25 (2 nights) at BLT for quite some time with no luck. Both for a 1BR LV and 1BR SV.

Very popular time to go. Your next time to possibly clear is the 30 day mark. Those who cancel before points would go to holding.

I have a BCV wait list for 11/10 thru 11/12 (Thursday thru Saturday) which is the last days of the Food and Wine Festival. I also call often to see if just the night of the 12th might come available. I do have a back-up and that is the Marriott Courtyard but would much rather stay on property.

Good idea to keep calling. I only have the wait list at 2 places so I will start calling a couple of times a week asking about the others. Swan and Dolphin have a pretty good rate for the time we will be there. I may go ahead and book that and then keep calling and checking. Thanks for the advice!

When you consider that you have to be at the top of the wait list for those dates, resort and room size and someone has to cancel for those dates, resort, and room size, getting a match can be tough. Your odds are better because you are trying to get SSR which is a huge resort.

I would definitely make a cash reservation for a backup. Oct 1st is the 40th anniversary of WDW opening, it's on a weekend, and I believe that many people have booked to go at that time to celebrate. We almost did. And F&W and MNSSHP. If WDW doesn't do anything special on that day then there might be cancellations but I'd want to be certain to have a room somewhere rather than count on that happening.

SSR, being the largest resort will have the best odds. OKW or AKV would probably have the second best odds but all it takes is the cancellation that you want happening.

Good luck!

There is also a half marathon that weekend. 10000 plus runners and their families or friends

I called today to see if I could change resorts during part of my Oct stay. From Oct 15-17 there were no studios available for either night. I thought that might be the case as it was difficult even getting 2 nights in a row 6 weeks ago when we originally booked.
