What are the chances for this reservation?

Ok, I know that I can't ask about specific availability, but here is my question...
We are waiting for our membership number to come in the mail as our first resale purchase was transferred in Disney's system on Monday. We should get that in the next couple of days. We can't make a reservation until I get the membership number, and we are about a week into the 7 month window for the trip we would like to take this fall. I know this is a very busy DVC time, but what are the chances we could get a 1BR at BC BWV BLT or VWL? We bought at SSR, and will be happy staying there normally as we usually drive down, but we will be flying this time and won't have a car and would like to try one of those resorts if possible.

Any thoughts? TIA

One bedrooms are the last to book, so you may be lucky. You don't say how long you want to stay, and if you're willing to move you could be OK. On the other hand, since you will have many years to enjoy, you could decide to stay at SSR, which you probably will get, and not have to move, and wait another year to book right at the 7 month point to try for one of the others.

My guesses...BLT, BCV no, BWV, VWL some days.

Thanks for the thoughts! We're looking at 5 nights for this trip. Probably check in Tuesday check out Sunday. If we were driving I would like to try out SSR, but we won't have a car on this trip so I would like to save SSR for when we have a car.

Hopefully we will get our member number tomorrow or Saturday and I can go ahead and check availability and make a reservation.

Here's another question, I have an October UY. The contract we just bought is for 130 points and has 130 2012 points and all going forward. When I get my membership number can I call to bank my 2012 points and make that October reservation all at the same time? Does the same cast member handle banking as handles the reservations?

You can bank and make your reservation online once you are loaded into the system, you don't have to call.

BCV, BWV and BLT could be difficult if you are past seven months exactly when you try to book for that time of year. Even one bedroom villas based on my experience last year.

Yes you can do it all on the same phone call. Ask the MS CM to bank the points, then make the reservation. They should use the banked points first but it's always a good idea to mention it just in case. The MS CM should review your point balance with you at the end of the call. Make sure it agrees with what you were expecting. I caught a booking error once when the point balance was off.

That's kinda what I expected. We may have to do SSR and like I said I have no problem with the resort. We bought there because there are things that we do like, and that it is a really good value in our opinion. I am still hoping however that without a car on this trip we will be able to get in somewhere else. Maybe VWL?

Call member service, they will give you your membership number over the phone...don't wait for it to come in the mail....ours didn't come in the mail for well over a month after close, but it was in Disney records five days after close.

I have tried twice, getting two different cast members, but both said they found my record (my address and all) but they couldn't give me my membership number. They said I would have to wait for it to come in the mail. From what I have heard lately this seems to be a change in MS's practices.

I wonder...some people refuse to give their SS# on Disney paperwork (it is their choice), so there is no way to identify as anyone could have your name, address and BD...that's the first thing they asked, and so were able to provide my membership number over the phone...sucks to have to wait until they get around to mailing paperwork...

You'll probably be able to choose between OKW, SSR & AKV. The problem for the other resorts is probably going to be the weekends. Those are very popular during Food & Wine Festival time, especially at the resorts you mentioned.

Don't be afraid to waitlist, though. People change their plans and you could get lucky.

Congratulations and welcome home. Home your member number comes soon.

If you haven't already, try calling either Member Administration or Member Quality Assurance to get your number. Those are different options than MS and you may be able to gt someone in one of those groups to give you your membership number.

Yay, my member number arrived in the mail this morning! I've already called and banked this year's points and made the reservation for our October trip! BWV and BCV were booked up as expected, and so was BLT, but we were able to get the full 5 nights at VWL! We haven't stayed there before so we're definitely excited to try it out.

So far we have rented points to stay at AKV and BWV, but this will be our first trip as new DVC members!

Here's a question since we haven't actually stayed at VWL before. Do the villas feel like you are part of the rest of the resort? Or do they feel like you are separated and far off from the rest of the resort services?

Good for you!

Well, the DVC building to me is so beautiful I definitely feel part of the WL resort! The busses are very convenient to the villa, and the boat may not be, but walking either through the lodge, or outside on the grounds, around the geyser area, I feel the atmosphere of the resort and I just love it! Look at the pathways, see the footprints of the critters who walked before you. I think the Springs Pool and the whirlpool next to it is serene, beautiful, a gem of a place to be!

We just had eight nights at VWL in January for the marathon and I still love it. If you don't want to take the boat to the MK, you can take a bus from WL. And that bus doesn't stop anywhere else. Just the MK.

The flatbread at Roaring Forks is pretty good, too.

Welcome home. You'll love VWL. It doesn't feel separated from the main building. It's a beautiful resort and I feel sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Glad you got it, just for future planning, we have stayed at SSR many times without using the car and it was great.

Transportation anywhere can be great, good (which is almost all the time) and bad sometimes.

In fact we had friends at VWL and we were at SSR, we left our rooms at the same time and we were standing at the security entrance waiting on them as they got off the boat for the MK. So you really can never tell.

That's good to know! There are many things we like about SSR, and we plan to stay there next summer. It's good to know that the transportation can be good. We are looking forward to trying out VWL though!
