I need some advice for dining in WDW with picky adult eaters. Our traveling party will be me, DH, DS(8),DD(3),DD(2),MIL, and FIL. My family isn't picky at all and is very adventurous when it comes to eating. My in-laws are extremely picky though. Are there any good restaurants (non buffet) that serve basic food and maybe some food that is a little more adventurous. Thank you!

What do they eat? Can't answer the non-buffet question without knowing that.

Sorry, I forgot to put that part! They are basic meat and potatos people, but will also sometimes to simple pasta dishes or maybe pizza.

Pretty much every Table Service restaurant will offer a steak and/or meat dish, many have a pasta choice and a number of them have flatbreads for appetizers. They can always have the steak/meat served plain or with the sauce on the side and some form of potato is usually offered as a side dish on at least one entree so it can be subbed if the steak comes with an unusual veggie.

Check the menus on the Disney site, allears and this site to choose the restaurants that sound good to your family and would have something for your in-laws.

In-laws are very simple eaters and I'm having a time trying to figure out where to take them... don't want to make ADRs for 'exotic' food if they're going to eat burgers.

Going to sit back and watch the suggestions if it's okay!

Liberty Tree Tavern serves Thanksgiving type of food.

Yachtsman Steakhouse has steaks with no sauces, sides are pretty plain.

Le Chefs de France has roast chicken.

50's Prime Time has meat loaf, fried chicken, pot roast.

Turf Club at SSR is a very nice TS that doesn't get a lot of attention on the boards to the location. The food is pretty traditional here.

The Signatures are more "upscale dining" and I would probably avoid them, even though most offer a steak.
Tony's in the MK is main road Italian. It gets mixed reviews here, mainly because it is not "special". Liberty Tree Tavern dinner is like an old fashioned Thanksgiving dinner. It is served family style and it includes turkey, ham, beef, stuffing, mashed potatoes, beans, mac 'n cheese, salad, and rolls and butter.
DHS has 50's Prime Time Diner which is old fashioned comfort food with fried chicken, meatloaf and pot roast.
We eat in the International Restaurants in Epcot, so I am not much help there.
Resorts that may be good for your family include the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL, the Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness, the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian, Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club, and ESPN Club at the Boardwalk,
These are just some

I'm a fairly picky eatter too, also mostly a meat and potatos girl....

I'd also recommend Liberty Tree Tavern in MK - can't go wrong with turkey and mashed potatos.

We also enjoy O'Hanas at Poly - this is like a brazilian steakhouse. They'll have spits of beef, turkey, chicken and pork. All you can eat and you can pick and choose which you want more of. The noodles and veggies that are sides are family style so they can opt for them or not.

Another good choice is Teppan Edo in Epcot. This is teppanyaki style ( like a benihana ). The entree is just the meat or fish you opt for and noodles with zuchinni and onions ( easily pushed aside if you need to ) and white or brown rice. There are sauces but they are on the side and you can pass them up if they are not to their taste.

About Liberty Tree, the thanksgiving style feast (all you can eat) is at dinner ONLY. At lunch, you order from the menu. Great place!! :thumbsup2

50's prime is great. Basic comfort food.

And its true, most restaurants have at least one steak/plain meat dish with potatoes.

As a simple/picky meat & potatoes eater myself I would recommend these restaurants. As other have said, Liberty Tree Tavern is a great choice. Also 'Ohana - can't go wrong with unlimited meat on a stick! I thought Via Napoli was great (everyone loves Italian, right?) for pizza & pasta. Captain's Grille would be a good choice as well.

I'd add Garden Grill at Epcot, and second 50's Prime Time Cafe at Hollywood Studios and Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. My meat&potatoes parents like all three... :thumbsup2

I agree with PPs. My picky eaters liked Liberty Tree Tavern, Mama Melrose, '50s Prime Time, Le Cellier and Raglan Road. All had meat and potatoes or pasta and hearty portions.

Hope this helps. :)

I'm not a very adventurous eater, and some of my favorites are Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch, Whispering Canyon, Tutto Italia, Le Cellier, Garden Grill, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Mama Melrose, Tony's Town Square, Cape May (but that's a buffet, never mind).

Thanks everyone! You have given me some really great ideas! :yay::yay:

By the way, the inlaws don't know it yet, but we WILL be going to Boma one night. They have buffet-phobia for some reason, but it's my favorite restaurant on property and I can't miss it! Gotta have my chicken porridge and zebra domes!
