For the most "official" information, I go to NOAA at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/. I also like wunderground. I see you are in TX, I hope you aren't in Ike's path! Stay safe

At the fire department DH and I work for, we use NOAA as well. If you go to noaa.gov, you can check up on all of the tropical storms and hurricanes. They update every three hours (8, 11, 2, 5). They were fairly accurate in my first expecience with Hanna (I moved to SC from MI...we worried about snow storms!).

Living in VA I find that it is necessary to track the storms at all hours. So from the beginning of the season, until the end of the season I have "Eye of the Storm" running on my PC. This is a program that get's its updates (lat/long) directly from NOAA, and shows them on a map. My PC is setup with dual displays, and one of them always has EOTS running. It's not a website, but a program, but this app has Satellite photos, and current bulletins, as well as a map of the storms position.

This program not only shows the storms position on the map, but also includes the current top sustained wind speed, as well as current barometric pressure. Another neat feature is that the program has all the storms ever recorded, and their paths. so if you are so inclined you can look at the path of all the storms for the last 100 years or so. (The app has data all the way back to 1851!!)

Check out wftv.com (Channel 9). Tom Terry's hurricane predictions are often more accurate than NOAA. In 2004, he predicted Charley's path more accurately and sooner than anyone else. He definitely isn't your typical TV meteorologist.

Of course, the closer the hurricanes, the more accurately anyone can predict. What makes a difference is the accuracy of prediction 3-5 days out.
