Well, I have about a year and a half left and really need to start preparing for the outside world. I've decided a while ago that I'm going to get house in Orlando and also go to college around the same area when I get out. Any suggestions? Are there any top 100 schools in the area? I want to go to Harvard post-grad, so I need a really good school to prepare me for that.

The best schools near WDW are probably Rollins College (very small, liberal arts) and the University of Florida (about an hour away I think).

University of Florida. It's about two hours away from WDW. It is one of the leading public universities as far as research goes. It is also the flagship university of the State of Florida.

I lived and worked in Gainesville for about 2 years and UF is an excellent school. Have many friends that went there. Just be prepared to become a gator lover. :)

Plus it's just under 2 hours away. Great for weekend trips OR day trips! I went on a Sunday for the F&WF and it was so nice!

What is your area of study?

UF is an excellent Business School (making an assumption, probably the wrong one) and an excellent engineering school. They are top notch with everything--but best to find out how the different schools are rated for your particular degree of interest.

You have a pretty fascinating background. If you enjoyed the military - and you have done well there, triumphing over the adversity in your family - I might consider applying to one of the service academies now, West Point, maybe. I think you might be able to get in, and a degree from there will set you up perfectly (both academically and financially) for Harvard post-grad.

Or, further away, but much better than a "gator" lover, you can be a Seminole fan! Go FSU!

No can do on that one. You have to be between the ages of 17 and 23 in order to become a West Point Plebe. Unless I'm mistaken on his age, Vamp is older than 23.

Just looked at his profile, and you're right! Bummer! He's over by 6 months!

Depending on your major, there's also University of Central Florida in Orlando. Used to be a good science/engineering school, bit smaller than UF if you don't like the big school atmosphere.

I've attended UCF undergrad and UF grad. It would be hard to choose between the two.
