We're planning a family reunion of sorts on the Disney Magic and now have booked a total of 9 cabins on the ship. The Disney rep I spoke to said that we now qualify for "Group Space" which includes some special perks -- but he didn't elaborate on the specifics.

He indicated that more information would be provided to me at a later date, but does anyone know what Disney provides to people who travel in large groups?

Here's some info from the Disney Cruise Line site pertaining to the Family Reunion Package: (Although I don't think this is what you were after... )

As far as discounts because of group size, perhaps someone else will have more info.

Jim--

Glad to see the old photo back! The other one was good but the current one is the best. That really is one big fish! :teeth:

Well too bad these "perks" don't apply to any of the "special" cruises ... our group has 9 staterooms and 24 people for the Aug 2005 repo cruise ... 'course if you look at the Dis list for that cruise, we're at over 319 people!! The Dis group should DEFINITELY get some perks on that cruise!! :hyper:

I just checked through all the stuff on the TA website (for Canada anyway) and I can't find a single mention of group amenities. I'm sure they have them, they just don't tell us what they are. Other cruise lines will generally have a chart showing the TAs what's available for groups.

The only thing I could find with DCL is the Family Reunion package which can be purchased as an add-on.

So all that basically means is that I think that what DCL is doing is requiring that the TAs set up with group amenities personally with DCL rather than going with set (published) options.

Amenties will typically range from onboard credit, private cocktail parties, a bottle of wine at dinner or in the stateroom, group photographs etc. It all depends on a number of factors including date, length of cruise and number of cabins booked.

I'd settle for the private cocktail party for the repo Dis group ;)

I think too, on some cruise lines, every eight cabin could be half price or free, but that doesn't apply to DCL.

With 9 cabins, you should get at least one person's travel fare free. I was booking with Disney last year when setting up our trip for next week and I could only get 4 cabins worth of people. The rep told me that if I could get , I think, 8 cabins I would get a free person. They didn't call it free (I don't remember her words) but it was free. I don't know what you needed for a complete free cabin but I do know at least one person went fare free. Heck, 9 cabins may get the 1 free cabin.
This is the way all cruise lines work. It is a perk they give travel agents, or individuals, that book multiple cabins. And yes, Disney participates in this, also. The agent I spoke with told me without my asking, even though I already knew this.
Now, it's up to you if you want to share this information with the folks in your group. Some may not care, some may and want you to split the savings amongst them all.

Mt family has booked 9 cabins together for October. They did tell us that each stateroom get a photo of the group. I think we all get a T-SHirt. The best part is a private one hour party with open bar and snacks. I do NOT think they offered my mom, who booked us, any discounts for that number of cabins OR a free person or cabin. Should we be getting that??

they definitely are NOT offering ANYTHING free or discounted for the repo "special" cruises.

JJsmama ~ Sounds like you got the Family Reunion Package that ThreeCircles posted about. Did you pay the $29 per person ($19.00 per person for 3rd, 4th, etc... guests traveling in the same stateroom). Or was all that free after you booked 9 cabins?
