you can see from that great map that Piglet gave you the link to, that there are several close. The closest being Best Western Park Place Inn and the Park Vue Inn. That being said, most people consider from Howard Johnson's to the North, to Candy Cane Inn to the south to be a fairly easy walk. I recently stayed at HoJo's and found it to be a very easy 10 minute walk. Some people are comfortable walking from farther out hotels, it just depends on the walker, I guess.

I'm not sure if you have been there before, but you can only walk into the pedestrian walkway on Harbor Blvd, so right at that red square on the map, or some people who stay on Katella talk about cutting through the Grand Californian to enter through Downtown Disney. I have never done that, so I can't really comment on that.

We stayed at the Anabella last year and used the GCH shortcut. We walked every morning with a six year old in tow and it was an easy walk without the huge crowds on harbor.

Hydroguy's links are great and I have referred to them frequently.

To answer the OP's direct request for "4 hotels" I can say that in my research I found the BWPPI for $154 per night for 2 beds and a pullout (to sleep 6 with one bathroom); BWPPI for $206 per night for two adjoining King rooms (each with a pullout sofa and two bathrooms); Regular room at the Tropicana for $109 per night; a Kid suite at Carousel for $217 per night (one bath); a two bedroom/two bath suite at Hojo for $174 per night (sleeps 5).

I hope that helps. A lot depends on whether you are dragging little kids (closer is better) and how many people you have/bathrooms you need and whether you will make use of a "free breakfast."

Oh wow, thank you all for your responses! This was all very helpful!
