What are "scattered showers" for Orlando?

I just checked the 10-day weather report for Orlando and two of the days we'll be there say "scattered showers" with a 60% chance of precipitation.

In Florida terms... is that scattered as in every 10 or 15 minutes it will let loose or once in the morning - once in the afternoon in might rain? Never been good at the diff between isolated and scattered!

Then 10 minutes later, it's gone (except on our vacation in Nov 1998,9? when it drizzled continuously for days) .

We always see the chance of showers in Florida, but on a recent trip I heard the weatherman describe the meaning of the number. They said 60% means that the area will be 60% covered with rain. I always thought it was a 60% chance. My 3 weeks in FL this summer and we only got hit with rain one day. We had the best wether luck on this past trip!!! So don't fear the evil weatherman!!!!

It means a 60% chance of rain. It could be raining on one side of the park and not the other. In the summer you have west and east coast sea breezes. Where they collide is where you will get the afternoon showers.

We had scattered showers every day during our trip, and that's exactly what they were. It would be fine one minute and pouring the next. They didn't last long except one evening, and most often were in the afternoon, around 2 or 3 or so. It won't ruin your trip, just be prepared. When you get there, buy a poncho and/or a nice Mickey umbrella, and a hat if you want one, and have fun!
