We've (myself, son(10) and twin girls(7)) been on one DVC trip so far. We stayed in Jambo House 2 bedroom value with my mother-in-law last May.

Her reaction was priceless. Of course, she was impressed with the lobby and check in service (especially with online check-in), but when we got to our room I could tell she was less than pleased. We had a 2 bedroom lockoff, but our room key was for the studio portion, and our luggage was piled in front of the attaching door to the 1 bedroom. I could see the wheels turning in her mind thinking "how the heck are 5 of us going to sleep in this studio" when I went out in the hall, into the 1 bedroom, and opened the door from the other side. Once she saw that we had the 1 bedroom AND the studio, she was VERY impressed.

This coming March we're going with MY parents. They are the type that stay at mom and pop motels, or for a "fancy hotel", they splurge for a Days Inn. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they enter our SSR treehouse.

I'm just wondering what some peoples' non-DVC guests thought of the accommodations? I'm worried my Mom might feel "it's too fancy for me".

We took my in-laws twice to OKW - before we were members as we just joined this spring - and they loved it. They couldn't believe how large the rooms were and loved the grounds. Can't wait to take them back and use our points.

DW and I were guests of my cousin and his wife this past Sept. In the past we have either stayed at CBR or offsite. When we walked into the treehouse we were totally blown away. Same thing later in the week when we moved into BLT. 14th floor, lakeview 1 bedroom, right outside the north elevators. We never got tired of those views.
Thinking of drinking the koolaid sometime in the future.

A little over a year ago, I took my bff to "The World" for the first time. She is quite the cynic and I was more than a trifle nervous. If she was going to spend the entire trip dissing my "happy place", I would have to resort to drastic measures(drop-kicking her @$$ back home!). When we arrived at SSR she said, "I don't know how do deal with all this luxury!" It was a non-park trip(I didn't want to overwhelm her with the Mouse), and about 3 days in she said, "I wouldn't mind going to Epcot", so off we went. We rode "Soarin'" and on Test Track she actually threw her arms in the air when we went outside for the grand finale. As we were having a nosh on the Boardwalk one day she said, "I think I'd like to stay here next."

Disney.....you made a believer of yet another NON-believer. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

We did a trip in May and we brought my best friend and her kids. We used our points and got them a one bedroom at Kidani. She LOVED it! Her kids loved the pool at Kidani so much and they skipped the parks a few of the days and hung by the pool. She would like to take them again, but she said with her budget she'd have to stay in a value resort and after staying at Kidani she doesn't want to! Awwww! Perhaps DVC is in her future!

We took my frugal parents last summer. My Mom is one that has always been frugal and I always had the feeling she thought that our purchase into DVC was frivolous. My parents have been to Disneyland a number of times and have always enjoyed themselves, so were expecting something similar. My Dad and Mom were very impressed with the 2 Br that we had at WLV. My Dad even asked about the cost of a DVC purchase, how many points would they need, what are the dues, etc!:cool1: They will be going with us again this next summer. My kids can't wait to do Disney with Nana & Papa again!!:woohoo:

Took my DB and DSIL 2 summers ago, my DSIL fell in love with SSR. She wants to go back and have a no park vacation. They joined us at the VGC this year and my DB loved grilling practically "in the park".

Our friends reaction when they walked into our park view dedicated two bedroom was "You get this Every Year??". Hoping they might buy eventually when their finances are a little better and maybe we can score at least one referral. ;-)

When I took my parents, they were intrigued. They thoroughly enjoyed thier stay. Another trip I took a couple of girlfriends and they were in AWE of the Treehouses. Took another friend once, she BEGGED me to take her again and now I'm taking her family. She wants to show the hubby so she can convince him that DVC is for them. Hoping to score that referral:thumbsup2.

Just got back from a week at SSR 1 BR with my DB and SIL. As they have a time share already, they are familiar with the whole concept. They enjoyed the trip and resort, but they just aren't into Disney as much as we are. We took them for a monorail tour of the MK resorts, including our home BLT. It was fun to have someone else along for the trip, but DW and I are really looking forward to our 'only us' time so we can relax and not have to play host 24/7.

PS - being at WDW when it's freezing out is always better than being at home freezing!! :rotfl:

We took DW's parents to SSR 2 BR a couple years ago and they loved it. They were very impressed with the accommodations and before we left they were already asking when they could accompany us again. They were amazed with the full kitchen and living room to go along with the large bedrooms.

We will be taking good friends of ours, my Brother and his Wife, and mother-in-law to THV in May, I can't wait to see their reaction when they see that.

Honestly, not a lot of wow. They've been grateful (well, except my hard to please brother in law) and complementary. But only my husband's aunt was really wow'd by it.

Most of my family has stayed in condos and timeshares in the past.

We took my Mom a couple of times and she just loves it. We've been with her before and stayed at CBR before DVC. Lets just say that the space in the 1 bedroom has made our stay so much more enjoyable. Last visit was at Kidani and she just loved the savannah view. We took also took my Dh's Aunt and Uncle with their 2 children. We did a 2 bedroom at Kidani and when we walked into the 1 bedroom side they were blown away. They had been there several times before but always stayed in a Value. We are going again in January with Aunt and Uncle staying at BWV's....and we are waitlisted for BLT Mk view. It's just so much fun to share.....

In our experience, our guests are always impressed...and the ALWAYS want to come back (and usually bring others!);)

:thumbsup2 We returned last night from a fabulous 10 day trip. We got a SV studio for DH and I and the same for DMIL. This was her second DVC trip with us and she LOVES the studio. Next year it will be my parents turn to see Kidani for the first time. I have already reserved the SV studio for them and one for us. Daddy was so happy showing me his confirmation letter. I know they will LOVE it. Our last stay with them was in 2008 and they loved Pop. We took them to WCC for dinner and Daddy made the comment that the decor of VWL was perfect for him. I know AKV isn't VWL but they are similar so I am thinking Kidani will blow it out of the park.....then when they get to step into the lobby at Jambo....zippity doo dah!!

My MIL and parents have been terrific to us and it is such a joy sharing DVC with them.

My DBIL (DH's brother) states one day he will own points at BLT--he loved Kidani last year and saw the value...

it changed the way we 'do' Disney.

LOL, do it ASAP!! You won't regret it, members since 1993.

Last April we invited three friends to share a two bedroom at VGC and just this month (12/1-12/7) both of my brothers and their wives joined us at AKV. Both times our guests were really impressed with the units. Our friends in April are Disney fanatics too, so they loved being right next to the parks and the atmosphere at AKV was impressive for my brothers.

I know there's a separate thread somewhere on the topic of what do others think about DVC membership (those who are not our guests). I get a lot of people who think we're a little crazy. Maybe we are...

Our guests seem to like the facilities and make the obligatory polite inquiries of us about the DVC program. In 10 years, none of them have gone beyond the polite inquiry stage though.

We had taken my sister with us to stay in the Value resorts before we became members.
We had the opportunity to take her with us for a stay at AK Jambo in Oct. She was in heaven. :lovestruc
We have AK booked over July 4th next year and hope to take our nieces. They will just love looking at the animals right out the door.

We've taken over a dozen different families with us, and each of them have been really wowed by the accommodations.
