You could try but keep checking or calling a couple times a day!

Keep checking online multiple times a day - as others have said, the number of times they check is related to how much they want the res. You've chosen a popular restaurant during free dining so consider walking up as a last resort. If you try walking up most people suggest going when CM first opens or towards the end of breakfast time.

Keep checking. Because of the CC guarantee, people do cancel.

I would think your odds of a true walk up would be better at restaurant opening than during the 8-9 hour though.

I kept checking everyday every few hours, and was able to get a Chef Mickey's reservation for 7:40 next week by some miracle! People do cancel!

I wouldn't count on a walk up, but I would be online checking multiple times a day every day between now and then. If you haven't picked anything up by then, I would pay especially close attention to the time period when final payments are due for trips and people have to decide whether to pay up or cancel, 45 days before the trip isn't it? People cancel trips and chance their mind about ADRs. I've had a lot of success picking up ADRs I couldn't get at first, but it takes a lot of persistence!
