What are my chances?

First post in this section. I have a question.

We have reservations at our home resort (Kidani Village) for Aug. On 1/11, my 7 month window will open up.

What are my chances of getting a 1 BD for BLT for a week in August?

If I can't get it, any other recommendation? Does the Beach Club allow five in a room? My littlest son can crash on the floor? I thought the kids would like SAB. Of course we love Kidani Village so we could just stay there.

You can have two waitlists at a time...try it and see.

That is a slower week and 1brs are always the last to book so you should be OK as long as you are a little fexible. Yes all 1br except AKV values allow 5

Your chances are extremely high if not certain to get either lake or theme park view at BLT. Your chances are low if you are looking for standard view.

I can tell as a BLT owner that as of now, the whole week of 8/11 and after is wide open for a SV, LV, and MKV. It's less than a week away. If you really want to get the SV to save points (difference of 35 points for the week) you could call today and start walking the reservation. You can book 8/5 to 8/12 today and call each day to cancel the first day, and add a day at the end. If you want the lake view then you shouldn't have a problem at all.

I did not consider the different views as affecting the chance of getting a reservation. I will look at the point difference. I think it is already a big step up from my AKL reservation so I will have to see if I can swing it.

Great idea about "walking up the reservation". It took me a while to see how that works. How long of a trip can you book on the 7 month mark of the day you check in?

Will I need to give up my AKL reservation to take the BLT one, even if it is for days I dont need? Does it always work?

But my next questions is - how come I can not book a stay longer than 7 days? I booked (through Member Services) a 9 night stay at the 11 month mark at my home resort? Does this mean I can not make reservations online for longer trips?

You can as long as you are not calling right at the 11 or 7 month window. Even when you call MS you are limited to 7 nights when booking exactly at that window. Once you are within the window, you can book for longer

Thanks again everyone - after thinking about it and talking to my husband AND realizing that we actually can go to BCV with the 5 of us. I think I am going to make my reservation on Friday - trying for BLT std view, if not available will take lake view or BCV. DVCmembers.com does not list BCV as taking 5 under the section on resort info so that was news to me.

I am shocked how "cheap" AKL is for points as compared to BLT and BCV. It is new, fancy resort and yet for this trip it would save me a ton of points if I just stayed at my home resort.

We love AKL but I think it will be fun to stay somewhere new.

Any thoughts?
