Hi all! What are your suggestions as to what to pack and bring through security? Our flight is at 5:45pm, so we're going to be going through security around 4pm. I don't want to eat airport food because 1-it's expensive and 2-I have a hard time with MSG and other unknown things in my food.

Any suggestions? Any suggestions on how to pack it, too?

As long as it isn't liquid or gel - like pudding, dips or jello your fine.

I bring sandwiches, cut up fruits and veggies, and snacks. Pretty much what I pack for lunches for myself & the kids I just pack for the airplane. I use frozen grapes or mini carrots for an "ice pack" and everything stays fine in small softsided cooler or lunchbox. We always purchase our own drinks after security to bring on board so we can have what we like without waiting on the FA's.

great idea!

What about a small jar of peanut butter, can that come through security. The last time I flew I could not bring hair paste through. Any one with experience?

Peanut butter cannot come through security in a jar. Only in packets less than 3.4 oz, and then they have to be in the ziploc bag with your other items.

Also, you *may* be asked, on some flights, to not eat PB, if there is someone on board with a severe allergy.
Though, people bring this up all the time, and in about 200 flights I've been on over the last couple of years, I have not heard this. (nor have I seen babies separated from parents, etc...but that's a whole other topic) ;)

I would suggest nothing "stinky"...tuna, sauerkraut, anything with a strong odor. Not nice to be stuck in a tin can with that odor wafting around. Basic sandwich, chips, veggies is fine.
