What are eyelets?

My mom's work has their own little version of eBay - employees can put up things they're selling, say what they're looking for, etc. Yesterday she found a lady selling an empty scrapbook from WDW, and she also had Mickey eyelets. I'm not much of a scrapbooker, so can someone tell me what 'eyelets' are? Thanks so much!

they're like a metal ring you punch through paper to attach something to it...mickey eyelets will have mouse ears on the top:
