:scared: I'm so out of the loop! What are dole whips? Are they good? Where are they found?

What are the snack things in Japan that I've heard off? Where in Japan are they found?

HeLp! :scratchin

I don't know about the japanese things but the dole whip is so good, its pineapple soft serve. And you can get it with a twist of vanilla and it tastes like a pineapple creamsicle. I highly recomend the dole whip for a hot day and the dole floats which are pineapple juice with the softserve are great too.

I'm not sure what Japan thing you're talking about but a dole whip is pineapple soft serve that you get in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom... and I must say that they are delicious. At WDW you can get them to swirl in vanilla soft serve with it but I don't think they do that at DL.

Tasty treat described above in Adventureland.

and

Pocky in the Japan department store.

YUMMY! Its a whippy fruit sherbet like ice cream. I suggest a pineapple float at the stand in Adventureland... mmm mmm

the icee type thing people talk about in Japan is called KAKI GORI. Its yummy too!

I think you are talking about Mikuymi(sp). She is a lady that has a stand out side of the shop in Japan. She takes soft, hot candy and makes any one of about 25 different animals for guests(for free). She is incredibly amazing in what she does and is mezmorizing to watch. You should make it a point to she her at least once. She preforms every hour or so for about 30 min.

Is the Kaki Gori in Japan made with artificial flavors or real fruit juice? The colors look pretty bright!

Dole-whip lover here!! I always get the pineapple soft-serve with pineapple juice--fabulous!!

And I've never had the Kaki Gori in Japan (the "snow cones"), but Miyuki is wonderful to watch while making her candy animals and Pocky is a personal fav of mine (used to eat it all the time in Switzerland!).

Pocky is small bread sticks about 6" long that have been dipped in some sort of icing. Strawberry pocky is wonderfull :thumbsup2

Is pocky the same thing as school bread that I have seen mentioned??

If not what is "school bread" :confused3 and where do you get it?

This recipe for Dole Whips was posted on another thread a while back. Here it is . . Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 qt. Of Pineapple Juice (Dole)
1 tspn Vanilla
3 C Cream
3 C Sugar
Milk

Mix the Pineapple Juice and Sugar (make sure the sugar is dissolved)

Next, add the Cream and Vanilla

Pour all the mixture into the ice cream container

Add Milk to finish filling to the fill line

At this point, simply follow instructions on your ice cream maker

When it is done, you can serve “as is” or you can put in the freezer to set up a bit.

Enjoy!

Although I don't know for sure, it seems to me that Kake Gori is made with artificial flavors. It also seems rather syrupy sweet, not refreshing like the somewhat similar "Raspas" we get back home.

Pocky and school bread are two different things. Pocky is a cracker/bread about the size of a thin pretzel-stick and dipped in something - strawberry, chocolate, choclate and nuts...... School bread is a snack over in the Norway bakery.

EPCOT's Japan is a place you should wander through JUST to look at the snacks. I lived in Japan for a year and used to do that when I went grocery shopping. There is so much yummy stuff, plus a few things that just are not part of the usual US diet. :) All fun. The kaki-gori is wonderful. It's better than a snow-cone - so good that I got hooked in Japan and had to buy a special ice-shaver so I could make them back here at home, though finding decent syrups can be a bit of a hunt..... sooo worth it. The melon is my favorite. Enjoy!

My dd loves Pocky! She was sooo excited when she found it in our wanderings. I tried my first Dole Whip in November after reading about it here on the DIS. It was delicious, but something in it gave me terrible heartburn! :crazy2: I won't chance it again but the rest of the family will definitely grab one next time we are down!

OK I think I been messing up all these years...I tried Dole Whips twice and really disliked them...but they had vanilla soft serve in them...so not a favorite of mine. I love pineapple too...am drinking juice right now as a matter of fact. :teeth: So you can get them with pineapple soft serve then??? This I think I would love!

Yes you get the pineapple Dole Whips at Aloha Isle in Adventure Land right
across from Swiss FamilyTreehouse. I believe this is the only place to get
the Dole Whip. :cool1:

To all -

Thank you SO much...

Your clarifications helped us to get 2 of Miyuki's animal creations!

And the dole whip... YUM!!!

These boards helped our trip greatly!

Tons of tips from you guys made it even more magical!!!

BTW, the animals were a purple elephant with a pink chair (my cousin received) and I got a brown monkey holding a banana in green grass!

Awesome!!!

I was hoping a Dole Whip wasn't a pineapple thing. My first thought when I heard about it was pineapple, because of the word "Dole". I can't stand pineapples, so I won't even try a dolewhip. That could be a good thing though, for me its one less high calorie treat I feel the need to try. But, if you like pineapple, it's supposed to be delicious.
