So, people get a lesser room rate because they are AAA, AP, FL/GA res, what else?

If I already have a AAA rate, AP is not feasible, don't reside in FL or GA, are there still codes out there for me? :confused3

"Codes" is sort of a euphamism for "discounts." It's kind of a catchall. When you book AAA, you don't need a "code." But for some discounts, you actually usually need to tell the CRO person you speak with a "code" -- it's usually three letters, like EFG or something. It was more common to talk about "codes" back when disney offered room only discounts.

In your particular situation, AAA is probably the best you're going to do. Disney sometimes releases "room only" codes that might save you a little more than AAA. But they haven't done that since around November last year. There was one promotion a while back where you could book a package and get free park hopping and "plus" features on your magic your way ticket. If you booked it through an AAA agent, you could get both the AAA room discount and the free features, so if something like that came out again, it would save you money. There also is free dining, which could save you money. You lose your AAA discount on the room, but the free food could more than make up for it.

Other than that, AAA is probably the best you can do.

Depending on the length of your stay, and where you're staying, though, you might want to actually do the math to see whether an AP is better for you. If you're staying at a deluxe during one of the times that the AP discount is $133/night, it doesn't take too many nights for the incremental cost of an AP pass over a MYW ticket to start to be worth it.
