What are Blackout periods?

We are going to Disneyland the later part of June. When I was looking up the park hours, it said something like: So Cal Blackout, Regular Blackout, Deluxe Blackout.

What does this mean? And is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Those are "blackout" dates for the different levels of annual passholders. It means that if an AP holder wants to come to Disneyland on those dates he/she must purchase a "blackout" date passport to do so (not many people do that). Only Premium AP holders have full access 365 days a year. Blackout dates are typically the busier days at the parks. :)

I did know it will be a busy time of year - I guess that means there will be lots of out-of-state vistors like us and less CA people.
