We are from Montreal and I'm trying to figure out what airport to fly to?

LAX, Orange County? :confused3 we will not have a car so the transferts to and from Hotel will be by taxi or car service...

another question, how many days would you recommend staying?

Thank you :)

For airports and transporatation see this thread.

The dilemma with airports is that LAX gets almost every airline to it, but it's not as close at LGB or SNA.

For park days I suggest 3 to 5. Closer to 5 if you are there on a weekend or holiday. With this many days you can fit in everything, but know in the off season there is no F! or firworks mon-thur. So it can be of value to go on busy weekend days.

We went in 2009 and flew to SNA. It was a close and convenient airport. This May we are flying into LAX. We know that it is farther away, but we got our tickets for $100 cheaper per person by using that airport. If you can get a good deal to LGB or SNA then do it. But, if price is a factor and you can save a lot of money by using LAX, then don't be afraid to do so. Shuttle prices and trip lengths will be more from LAX, but the extra money we saved on flight costs outweighs the shuttle length and price.

We are going for 6 days this May. In 2009 we went for 7. We know you don't *need* that much time, but we like to feel like we can take our time, enjoy the ambience, and truly relax. I have read on these boards that 3 days is okay. We couldn't have done such a quick trip, but that is personal. I would lean towards 5 for you to fit all that you want to do into your schedule.

Have fun planning!

We fly into SNA when we can it is a nice quiet little airport that is closer to DLR than LAX. Having said that LAX is always cheaper and has more flights servicing it.

Thanks for the link :thumbsup2

There is in fact a big price difference depending what airport you fly to. I will hae to take all that in consideration.

Thanks everyone for such a quick response

I flew into LGB, loved the fact it was tiny and when you got off the plane you were in your rental car in about 20 minutes.

Oh and rent a car through price line...I think it costs you about 20 dollars more then using a shuttle too and from the airport and you get a car for the whole time.

They both work fine. Orange County is closer. I would consider it a non-issue since you need to get ground transportation anyway. Just find the cheapest way to get to the park from either place.

Have flown into both LAX and SNA. LAX really underwhelms me. I prefer SNA. We are flying into SNA this time around and look forward to it. I have always taken the Disneyland Express for my transfers. We like them. Easy to use and find at both airports.

Alaska Air flies nonstops to SNA from here in Seattle, and although it's a little bit more expensive than LAX, getting to the park a lot quicker is worth the extra cost (not to mention that I was able to get SuperShuttle to the hotel for $9 each way on the last trip I took.) In your case, I took a quick look on Expedia to see what YUL-SNA flights looked like, and it looks like most involve multiple out-of-the way connections (for example, Delta sends you through Atlanta, and by the time they're sending you there you might as well just head to WDW instead.) In your case, I'd just stick to a nonstop to LAX, any advantages of flying in to SNA are probably going to be negated by the layovers.

Orange County Airport works best for me. Non-stop flights out of pdx (Portland, Oregon) save me 2-4 hours in travel and lay over time. I would guess there are going to be no non-stop flights even to LAX from Montreal. Like you I would get best flight time and price I can. All mentioned airports lead to DL :)

Jet blue also flies non stop into long beach, as does Alaska. It's a bit cheaper and pretty much the same distance....also, so small you don't even have to think.
