We are planning to fly from PDX (Portland, OR) into either MCO or Tampa for December 2004 trip. Before we head home we will stop to visit MIL in Indianapolis. So, what airlines fly non-stop from MCO or TPA into IND?

Thanks! We will be looking for good airfares soon!::yes::

Hi rsschneck'

I know for a fact Southwest flies non-stop from MCO to Indy......we're taking that route home in March.

Possibly ATA also. Check both websites for schedules. Should be easy to find. Look through Expedia or Travelocity for the "bigger" airlines, i.e. United, Delta, US Air, etc.

Take care,
Bob

Thanks for some of the replies! I know ATA doesn't fly out of PDX, neither does Song, Jet Blue or some of the others the East Coast folks have access to.

Southwest is a good option, I am just not sure if I will be able to wait 6 months or more to purchase tickets. I like to have everything settled so I quit stressing about things.

Keep the information coming! I always learn a lot from this board:smooth:

ATA flys nonstop from IND to both TPA and MCO and so does SWA. IND has most of the major airlines flying out of there. You might use the same airline from PDX to Florida and IND to PDX and ATA or SWA from Florida to IND one-way. The airfare between IND and MCO can be very low priced. ATA does have assigned seats and will be as cheap as SWA for the same route.

You might check www.ata.com

Good luck and keep an eye on the fares.

Delta also has non-stops that we have taken many, many times.

BTW, welcome to our corner of the world!

What's ATA's financial shape been like lately? I seem to recall some talk a few months ago in the Indy media about ATA's parent company thinking about filing Chapter 11? This isn't to scare anyone away from them, but we're looking at ATA for a 12/04 trip with extended family from Indiana and also are eyeballing ATA out of IND for that trip.

UPDATE: In fairness to ATA after I posed my question, here's the answer:

Looks like they've been given some breathing room to work things out.

I have also taken Delta non-stops from IND to MCO in the past, but I couldn't find any for our next trip. I believe they have taken these non-stops off their schedule which is a shame because they had great flight times and I liked flying the smaller planes. I haven't been able to find any non-stop carriers from IND to MCO other than ATA and Southwest.

I forgot to add that if you only want non-stops, it adds a little difficulty throwing IND into the mix. I had the same problem because we are going IND to MCO, then MCO to IAH (Houston), and finally IAH back to IND for our February 6 trip. I ended up booking ATA one way from IND to MCO, then switched to Continental (multi-leg) from MCO to IAH and finally IAH to IND. Continental flies non-stop from Houston to Indianapolis but not from Indianapolis to Orlando. It seems to me that the hub system that airlines like to use makes it more difficult to stay on one carrier if you only want non-stop flights. Good luck planning your trip.
