What age is too old to bathe kids together?

We're just hittin' them all tonight, aren't we. We'll all I can say is I took baths with 2 of my brothers until I was 4. They were 5 & 6. I'd say that's probably a good age. For same sexed siblings I'd go a little longer or until 1 or both don't want to any more.

I'm interested too. My DS is 4 and DD2, and they still bathe together every night. Although it's getting to be a PITA since more water ends up on the floor than stays in the tub :)

My 13 yo and 7 yo DDs still bathe together.

I would think when they start to protest and ask for their privacy, or when they start to really inquire about the diffrences between them. I would say sometime around when they start school. Thats seems to be when kids start thinking about privacy and stuff like that. I have an only child so I dont have much experience with this though.

I do recall being taken aback a few months ago when talking with another mom at the ball field. Her DD10 and DS7 still showered together and her DD13 just stopped showering with the other two. She said it matter of fact like. I didn't say anything to her, its just how they did it. She mentioned that she came from a large family and thats how it was when they grew up. Her husband wasn't like that she said. But the kids didn't mind and they were only there to get clean so it was no big for any of them.

Guess it depends a lot on the kids and how the whole family deals with issues like that.

My son is 4 and couldn't care less if anyone sees him naked, my daughter(who is 6) actually washed his hair for him while he was in the tub today..my daughter has started only allowing me to see her naked and not the boys(Daddy or her brother) so they no longer take baths together.

I just took my cues from the her. They stopped at 3(DS) and 5(DD)

I stopped at 4 1/2-5yo(2 boys)...because I wanted to switch them to showering and they were too big to both lie down and rinse their hair without hitting each other. Really tough to do together IMO...and now they love it alone. (I have twins 7yo) But they used to love playing in the tub together with all their toys :sad1: I miss that!!!

I would say when they start to protest and develop a need for privacy.

My boy/girl 5 year old twins just stopped bathing together a couple of months ago. I started to give them seperate baths when they asked for their privacy. If they hadn't asked, I would have transitioned them to solo baths fairly soon anyway. I didn't want them to get teased if they let it slip at school that they took baths together. I think 5 or 6, or whenever they don't want to...whichever comes first.

My mom always put me and my brother in the tub together (we were one year apart in age). The day co-bathing stopped was the day he added a log to the water.

My two girls, ages 6 and 9, still bathe together. Why? Because they still like to. I see nothing wrong with it whatsoever. I'm glad they still like bathing together and having fun. They grow up so fast.

We just moved into a new house last year and our master bathroom has a BIG whirlpool bath so they LOVE having baths in our tub!

As long as the kids don't have a problem with it, why should anyone else?

It saves time, water and they have fun too! It cracks me up what games they invent.

Not flaming, but may I ask why??

Because they enjoy it. They play together and have a lot of fun. There's a lot of pressure on my 13 yo to be grown up and teenagerish (she's going to a school dance with a boy tomorrow) but she can still sit in the tub and play dolls with her little sister.

I never made my kids bathe together.

I'm still traumatized by my sister leaving a "log" in the tub when we had to share a bath. :lmao:
