What age did your child want to walk at Disney?

My 2 year old wanted to walk a lot but he also used the stroller just as much. For my older son, 5 was the last trip with a stroller for him. ( we did use one at night at MHSSHP)

my 2 year old walked a lot! but he used his stroller a lot as well, there was time he would throw a fit because we wanted to put him in his stroller.

Our kids used strollers for at least 50% of our distances traveled in the park-meaning that they weren't necessarily in them for most of the day, just most of the long walks we took-til they were 6. We would explore lands on foot then strap them in to hoof it across the park, or navigate through thick crowds. They also wanted that place to crash in the afternoon.

My eldest was barely 3 at his first trip. He did not ride in the stroller initially - nor was carried. However, but the end of our trip, he rode in the stroller quite a bit.

My middle child had two trips at under a year old and then the next one at 3. She used the stroller quite a bit. She was capable of walking, but liked the security the stroller gave her.

My youngest child absolutely refused the stroller on his second trip at 2.5 years old. (He was 11 months and in the sling on his first trip). He refused to walk too! Luckily, I had brought the sling but it wasn't easy since he wanted to be held ALL the time. For the next trip, we worked on getting him used to the stroller - and bribing him with treats to get him to sit in it at all. We brought lots of bribes and were able to get him to sit in it at 3.5, as he still refused to walk. Our last trip wasn't Disney - it was Universal/IOA/LEGOLAND and he spent quite a lot of time in the stroller at 4.5 years old. It was his secure place and it worked well. (I should also mention that he has sensory quirks so he really needed the stroller for that reason. It was a relief to get him out of our arms and into the stroller for a trip!) He'll be 5.5 when we go to Disney next - and I expect he'll be in the stroller most of the time. (Yet, my eldest two were long done with the stroller by that age - it's a comfort thing with his sensory issues, not an endurance thing).

We were there last month. My ds was 2yrs 4mos. He spent very little time in the stroller. He just loves yo walk. We stayed at the YC and had dinner most nights at Epcot. He always walked from the YC to Epcot. The only time he willingly got in the stroller was when it was his bedtime and he got in and promptly passed out. I would say he walked 75-80 percent of the time.

At 2.75 my son only used the stroller for long distances. It spent most if its time in stroller parking and we let him walk. My daughter did the same thing at 3 but when she was 4.5 she didn't use it at all. Not even taking one for our next trip, 6 & 8.

My son wanted to ride until he was 6 :). At that age, we just had one to walk to and from MK (saved my poor husband's back from having to carry him back to the hotel at midnight). When he was 4 and 5, he rode in it quite a bit and napped in it a lot (and this is a child who stopped all naps at 18 months).

We walk a minimum of five miles per day (usually closer to seven) when at WDW - that is a lot of wear and tear on those little growing muscles (and on our muscles if we have to carry them).

We used mobile apps last trip. We walked well over 10 miles a day!

We went in Oct and DD was pretty much the same age - she turned 3 in Jan.

I was surprised at how much she did walk. We were with another family with a 4 year old. They would hold hands and walk together.

Usually right after lunch she would want to be pushed in stroller and at the end of the night walking back to car.

Between 4 and 5 all of my kids were done with the stroller at Disney. My middle guy was forced out 3 weeks after his fourth birthday. He had no choice, twins got the double stroller… and he HAD to walk. Poor guy. Luckily he is a champ and I never once heard him complain. I think he didn't want to be a 'baby" by then anyway. He was such a good big brother during that first year. (Now that they are always breaking apart his Legos…he is less "good" at being a big brother. :rotfl: Now I think he would sell them if he could. :crowded:)

Our last trip our youngest DS was just a few days shy of his 2nd birthday. He wanted to be out of his stroller for the majority of the day. That said, we still definitely needed it with us, since he took naps in it at the parks, and fell asleep a few times during the last few hours in the parks at night. We would have had to cut our park days pretty short if we had to carry a sleeping 25-pounder around with us.

We have always brought a stroller along as long as we have a child 5 or younger with us. (usually just an umbrella stroller though)

Wow - all of your toddlers are awesome! My 8, 10, and 14 year olds still don't want to walk at Disney! Or anywhere else, for that matter...DD suggested hovercrafts for the mall the other day LOL
