What adhesive is good to use on ribbon?

I am having a hard time with adhesives in general What is recommended to use when adhering ribbon to cardstock?

I usually use glue dots. I also wrap the ribbon around something (like a journaling block, for instance) and then tape it down on the back side. Hope this helps!

I use double sided wacky tape.
