Me, my wife and 20 month old daughter are taking an 8-day land/sea package on Dec 8th. My wife is VERY concerned that there will not be anything geared towards my daughter.

The WDW website is not specific enough, so any specific info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wingman

We are post first time cruisers (9/19 Wonder-four day trip). We had a 24mo. old with us and sadly, there's not an infants Oceaneer's club. They do offer babysitting, when and if available for a price. I forget how much, we didn't use it. Although, there are things like meeting the princesses, I think you'll be able to have breakfast w/ the Princesses on your cruise (be sure to check). She can meet characters aboard ship. I'm trying to remember what we did w/our daughter...The shows, the shows, she'll love seeing the shows with all the action. I thought my two yr. old would fidget, but she was sucked in. Having a little one, you're pretty much on your own. Your daughter will still have a great time! Happy sailing. :wave2:

I'm going to 'bump' this so that more people will see it, your thread is getting buried!

characters, characters characters! They are everywhere and will keep your toddler well entertained.
Don't forget the Mickey ear pool and just exploring the ship in general.
Flounders is $6 an hour if you choose to use it. They do a great job

Went thread crazy after posting, found another post you'd be interested in for ideas w/ your daughter. The first part of the thread title is, Post 9/23 on the Wonder w/ a toddler. You'll find a couple more ideas. I can't tell you exactly which thread page its on- remember I went thread reading crazy. :hyper:

we were on the 9/18 magic and our 16 month had a blast. We took her to studio sea ,they let the kids dance andshe had fun. Mickey ear in the pool was fun and she enjoyed saying hi to everybody that she saw. we ordered a portable crib for her and they left it in the room for the whole trip.If yur child drink whole milk just order some from roomservice and keep it in the cooler that comes in the room. She also injoyed the shows and running do the hall. Its their vacation also so let them have fun.::yes::

We just went with our 33 month old and had a lot of fun. We used Flounders, the nursery, four times so we had some quiet meals (something you don't get with our toddler!) He seemed to like it there...they had all his favorite things, the Wiggles, Disney Sing-ALong tapes, Baby Einstein.

He loved to explore the ship. His favorite place was the promenade lounge. They make a mean shirley temple! He was thrilled to play on the bar stool and sip his drink while dad had a martini.

He also loved all the music on the ship. We were in Mexico and they had a Mariachi band on. All the toddlers were crazy for it, dancing around them.

There are lots of shows and characters...unfortunately for us, DS is afraid of characters and has developed a fear of stage shows, so we didn't go to them much.

You also can take your little one into the Oceaneer Club to play on the slides, too, during open playtime.

We took a 3 day (that turned into a 4-day) to see if we liked cruising with DS. We booked another one onboard, so I guess that means we really did!

You're braver than I am. We started flying to grandma and grandpas house when our kids were 8 months old, but we didn't take a "vacation", to Disneyland, until they were 4. Attention span is just too short.

Our son has been going to Disney since he was 5 months old. Now some days, we only spent a few hours in the park, but he loved looking at all the action going on, and all the color.

Probably depends on the child, and the parent, and your expectations. When we took the DIsney cruise, we knew it would have compromises, cause pretty much every day with a toddler has compromises. But no place is better set up to deal with small children than Disney.

If I were going to take one DCL cruise in a lifetime, I would probably wait until DS is 5ish. But since I knew we'd probably be back, and I didn't have to pay anything but port taxes for him, and we got a really great deal, and we live in Fl and didn't have to fly, it made sense for us.

We were also willing to try Flounders, which worked out great. He got play time and his videos, we got alone time.

It just depends on your situation and outlook, I guess.

With the shows, you may want to consider sitting back aways. As in every Disney movie there are villians. A couple of points in the shows may be a bit overwhelming for a very young child if they are sitting right up by the stage. From a distance everything is a bit safer.

This is Disney, so nothing too bad, but young children can be terrified by Ursula's appearance in the Golden Mickeys for example.

I posted this about 6 months ago, but I thought I would repeat myself for this thread. Sometimes people seem deterred by the "extra charge" for Flounders, but consider the following:

According to the DCL brochure that I have, the cost to take a child under 3 on the 7 day cruise is $139.
The cost to take a 3 year old is $399-$1399 (I assume that the difference is based on stateroom category and season).

Let's assume that you are in a Cat 12 duing low season, and you paid $399 for your 3 year old. That is $260 more than the 2 year old. This means that, in essence, you are paying $260 for the "free" use of the kids club. At $6 an hour for Flounders, your 2 year old could spend over 40 hours in Flounders during the cruise and you still wouldn't pay as much as you would for a 3 year old who can use the club for "free".

If you are in something other than a Cat 12 during low season, the difference is even more dramatic.

Now, of course, this ignores the issue of Flounders' limited space, but I don't think that I will consider the cost to be a determining factor for the amount of time our 2 year old will spend there during our cruise.
