What about Your Ride?

I don't see any posts about Your Ride limo service on the transportation board anymore. I haven't checked back here in a while... did they go outa business or something? Are the still a DIS sponsor? Have they turned terrible? We are heading out the World this October for the EF&WF and wanted to rent a limo. We used Your ride last time with mixed results... and were wondering if we should give them another shot?

They aren't the official DIS Sponsor, but I used them in January and have them booked for June. Jim was my driver and I really prefer www.yourride.net than Tiffany TownCar!!

TifanyTown car was on time, but most drivers spoke English with an extremely heavy accent and weaved in/out of traffic.

Jim at YourRide was a very careful and wonderful driver!!

Jim was our driver last year as well. He's a great guy. I just wish there were not so many mishaps with our ressie:

-some "misunderstanding" or bad info from united airlines had Jim arrive 30 min late. (granted united airlines is probably responsible... though our flight did arrive on time.)

-reserved stretch limo, towncar arrived instead. (we did get billed for a towncar not the limo.)

-the towncar was fairly dirty, but Jim had the bottle water ready and waiting for us.

-reserved with credit card but had to pay everything in cash when we arrived at hotel. Jim didn't want to take a CC. This made for a fairly embarrasing moment in the AKL lobby as DW and I scrambled to get enough cash together to cover the fare.

All in all it was a comedy of errors, but Jim has a great personality and really, much of what happened was out of his control.

I've used them 4 times in the past 6 months....with no problems....I'd suggest you email, or call/fax Rabbitz (info on the yourride web site)...perhaps with a bit of background....and ask him to make sure you can get the Limo....I've always found them very workable, pleasant and affordable.

I think it was just Murphy's Law in spades that hit us during our last trip. All my interaction with Rabbit had been positive... he seemed like a very nice guy, very likeable.

Sometimes things just go wrong. One thing leads to another and becomes a snowball of the brownstuff rolling down the hill.

Darian, I can't understand why you couldn't use a credit card. I used Yourride last May rt. And also, one day we had them to drive us to DC and back. I was able to use my credit card.

Yeah, I couldn't either. The AKL concierge rep met us at the door and was escorting us around the hotel when Jim came back asking for more cash. I'd given him what I thought was a good tip and was surprised to see him back in the hotel. I offered to pay on a credit card but he said that wasn't possible. How utterly embarrassing it was. The hotel person was looking worried... like this new guest of hers was a dead beat or something I don't know. All very awkward. I don't have an answer on WHY the CC was not possible to use....

Have you checked Cartier towncar's site? We're using them for our upcoming trip after all the good reviews on these boards. They are cheaper than all the others too. www.cartiertowncar.com

Hmmm, if you decide to try them again, I suggest you talk to Rabbit and ask him about being able to use a credit card.
