OK - I've been put off about going in Easter, so the alternatives are Whitsun (May/June) or October. I know from an American friend who goes regularly in October that this is a good time to go, but what about Whitsun ?

Anyone care to comment ? Looks like Memorial day turns into Memorial weekend, followed by a few Gay days. October is looking more and more attractive.

We uaually go the end of January into February or mid to late September into October.

This upcoming trip will be the second one into October for us - I think it is a great time to go - the crowds are light and Mickeys Halloween Party is fun! This year they are starting the Food & Wine Festival very early - the 30th September - so that will be a first for us! The Festival looks great if you have adults and older kids in your group.

We tend to stay away from going during US or UK holiday times - which we can do as we have no kids.

May/June may have longer opening hours and less chance of lots of rain or hurricanes!! We don't find the afternoon rain a problem - we just shelter and then enjoy the parks when loads more people have left!!
Good luck with your decision,
Claire

We've been once at whit & would go again . We had much better weather than our August visit.

Didn't go to the parks on Memorial Day but shopping was fine.

Was in MagiC kingdom on the Main Gay Day Sat & yes it was busy, you would have to book any sit down meals. Especially character meals . But we didn't see anything that offended us.

Choice between May half term and October half term? No contest. We will never ever never ever go in May again. Too hot, too wet and too busy. We have always gone in October half term until last May and hated it. We are back to October half term next time we go in 2006.

I hope you make the right decision for you. Let us know what you do.

@mark&sue - thanks for the advice. We are planning this as a holiday of a lifetime so we want to get it right. Everything is pointing towards October. Thanks for your help.

What dates are these in May and October and I can give you more information. What does Whitsun mean?

Our bank holiday of Whitsun is the same weekend as your Memorial Day. I found it very crowded compared to October (usually around 20th October). Around mid day we found the parks not only too crowded but way too hot. And then there were days it just did not stop raining. Whereas in October it only seems to be a quick shower if it does rain.

The possible downside to October is that the parks may close earlier.

Never again in May. We flew out the 29/05. MK was packed on all 3 visits as was animal kingdon and MG. The universal parks were better as was sea world and epcot seemed empty, although it is a very large park. Next time I'll be going in October.

Or failing that I might take the kids out of school and go in late April
