We are going in December and the thought of spending a humongeous amount of money on DDP is making me ill even though we really enjoy eating at a TS restaurant every day. This year we are getting 2 rooms at pop century since our girls are now 21 and 17. Can we get DDP package for one room only and then split the meals with our girls who are light eaters? I normally split my meal with my youngest when we dine out at home and we could pay oop for an extra side dish or salad if it was needed. Do you think this is a feasible plan?

No, sorry, you can't share your meals with people not on your plan - even family members.

Really? I thought that you just couldn't use more meal credits at one time than there are number of people on the DP. Certainly a person could sit at the table, order an appetizer and share an entree with someone who orders and pays via the DP. Is the waiter really going to confiscate their fork as it reaches toward the plate across the table??? :rotfl:

We've used the DP as well as the TIW. Most of the time the waiter doesn't even know which way we are going to pay until the check is brought to us.

I think what the poster meant is you can't share credits with people even if they are family.

Now if you have a person with you that isn't on the DDP and you only use your credit and want to give them part of your meal, you can share that way. But you can't give them one of your credits to get their own. Make sense?

OP, sorry everyone has to be on the same plan.

This is the first question on the FAQs on the Dining plan pdf:

Q. Can I use my Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family members who
are not included in my reservation or have not purchased a Disney dining plan?
A. Sorry, you may not use your Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family
members who are not included in your reservation or have not purchased a Disney
dining plan.

No, what I really meant was that I would share my meal with my daughter not my credits. In other words, I would only order one entree with my DP and oop for a side dish for her. Then we would just split my entree. Is that okay? And since we have 2 rooms (they have their own reservation number) I don't think that I have to purchase DDP for them just because we are purchasing the plan for us. Is that correct?

OP, I would say what you want to do is feasible. You're just wanting to take your credit to order 1 meal and split it with your DD. I quoted Nadjalu where she also said that was fine.

I am closing this, as the OP is basically asking if they can use the plan to feed persons who have not purchased a plan. Some of the posters are saying it is fine, but it's using the DDP credits for one part of the family to avoid buying the DDP for the rest of the family.
