We are staying at the Swan for one day before our Disney cruise. (We were supposed to do SOG, but it won't be open.) We aren't planning on going in a park that day, so can you tell me what spots to explore at the Swan? What are its highlights? Any hidden, fun nooks and crannies? What about breakfast Sunday morning - any must-dos? Do you like this resort?" Do you LOVE it? Let me know! Thanks!

I have stayed at the Swan a fair number of times. It and the Dolphin are magnificent hotels. Very pretty. You HAVE to at least walk around the Grotto pool area, if you are not going to swim. It really is unique.

I doon't spend much time there, out to the parks usually. I must say the 50's ice cream shop on the ground floor, near the entrance (actually rear entrance, facing the Swan) of the Dolphin is one of my favorites. Though now dieting, not sure what I will do in Dec, LOL. The Garden Grove Cafe does have character buffet. :earsboy:

You also might check on the Resort board here on the DIS.

If I have an email address, I can send you a picture thread I used to have here on the DIS but now is gone.

The Boardwalk is right next to the Swan. Lots to do and see there. You also should go check out the Dolphin's lobby. Shula's Steakhouse in the Dolphin is also great.

We just got back from the swan. Don't know your family particulars, but if its just adults you could check out the sushi restraunt if you like that, have heard good things about palios too, while we didnt have time to go the smell was fantastic. Heard they have strolling violinist so that will be on our list next time for sure. I saw a quaint and cozy little area just outside the door. It had little chairs and a fountain etc. Nice to eat a snack outside on. Very secluded and romantic as everyone would just overlook it. There are chairs, couches etc before the elevators going to the west wing. nice and quiet for reading indoors. If you have children the beach volleyball is great as is the pool area. You can also get a lounge chair and relax and read too. We walked past the dolphin fountain too. It was crowded due to the rain storm but the nostalgic atmosphere looked cute. Enjoy your time at the swan.

Thanks for the answers and also for moving this to the resort thread. That's where I maent to put it.

I didn't realize that the Swan and Dolphin were within walking distance of the Boardwalk. Is there a walkway? How long a stroll is it?

Thanks!

It only takes a couple of minutes to walk from the Swan to the Boardwalk. There is a bridge and walkway that connects the Swan to the Boardwalk area. I would definitely spend some time over there. Make sure you take a walk all the way around because you can check out the Yacht/Beach Club as well. Plus there are some excellent restaurants along the way.
