Not to mention that the amount of mascara in the tube is almost always less than about 1/3 of an oz.

I was looking at the list of allowed items. Scissors with blades under 4 inches are permitted, screwdrivers 7 inches or less are permitted. Knitting needles are permitted. But mascara is not .

Corkscrews too. A few years ago, they were allowed (as they are now) but the little label knives had to be removed. Ah, ha, corkscrews are safe, the little label knives are not. That is definitely a head scratcher.

Been there, done that....Puerto Rican girl from The Bronx.. I Do Not mind being profiled and yes, I have been, many times. It doesn't bother me, and back then it didn't bother me, either. That's the honest truth...

But anyway, right after I posted this I saw on the DIS News page the *New* TSA rules and lipstick is now allowed

Yes, solid lipstick is now allowed. It is on the TSA website.
As to profiling: I am happy it does not bother you, but, it does bother a lot of other people. It is also very illegal to do.
