I am down to the final stages of planning for our mid-December trip and I jsut had a terrible thought :earseek: ...."What do I do with my food, when we change resorts??!!"

We are right now going to be at BWV in a 2 bedroom for 12/16 and 12/17 and then off to SSR for the next 5 nights. We are waitlisted at BWV for the last 5 nights but I'm not holding my breath. So if we do have to move from BWV to SSR how do I get my refridgeratored (sp?) food there? Bell Serivces will move our packed luggage (I assume) but will they move your food too .... and if not does anyone have any suggestions? :confused3

Thanks......

On one of our trips, we had to change rooms at OKW (studio to two-bedroom) we had purchased groceries and we just packed them in plastic bags and called the front desk. They sent someone to get the groceries and put them in the cooler until we got our new room later in the afternoon. When we got the new room, we just called again and they delivered the things nice and cold. I'm not sure what they do when you are changing resorts. I would like to know because our January trip starts in a 1-bedroom at SSR and then immediately changes to a 2-bedroom at VWL. I didn't know if I should wait to have the groceries delivered until we got to VWL or what. :confused3

We've done it a number of times, but usually changing rooms within the same resort. It works well. What we do is try to minimize the number of things we need to have refrigerated. For those items that require refrigeration, I put them in a brightly colored bag (a cooler would also work) and label them PERISHABLE - PLEASE REFRIGERATE with your name. (make the label at home before your trip). I also tell the luggage folks about the bag. We've never had an issue and we've done this several times. I wouldn't try to transport something very fragile (like any eggs you have left - use them up) or "melt-prone" like ice cream bars, but lunch meats, milk, fruit, vegetables, restaurant leftovers should be fine. When you arrive at your new room/resort, call for your luggage and make sure to mention you have perishables stored in the refrigerator.

I also have had food successfully moved. I try and freeze any items I can. One time at BWV they forgot to deliver our ref. items, but brought them up after we called. I find the whole moving process very easy, and we usually switch resorts 1/2 way through our stay(last year we moved SSR to BWV).

When we moved from OKW to FW Cabins, they not only took our refrigerated things and refrigerated them, when we checked in, our refrigerated items were already in our refrigerator in the cabin. I thought that was really nice!

WOW!!! Thanks for all of the great responses! I guess I don't need to worry, I'll just pack my collapsable (sp?) cooler and tape my sign to it when we are ready to go!
Thanks...you guys are the best!! :grouphug:
