What are crowds like? The weather? All other threads talk about early December and then Christmas Day.

Anyone??/

We'll be there Dec 15-22. There are threads on this week if you hunt back in the last month, I know I have seen some.

I have never gone at this time of year so I am only going by what I have read.

It should start off as a lower crowd week and build as the week goes on. I have read different opinions but some say it won't start to get real crowded till 12/21 or 12/22 or that weekend. The first half should be pretty nice as far as crowds go.

Weather, well anything goes from what I hear in Florida at that time of year. Could be 70s could be 40s. Could wear shorts, could be in gloves. Best bet is to check Orlando weather online before you go and see how the week looks. Layering should be key I think.

Have a magical week!

We'll be there during that time and we agree, the weather is varied and it could be quite chilly. We usually bring a blanket to sit on during the Candlelight processional, the metal benches could be cold! I usually do go swimming during that time, but we don't stay at the pool, it's in/out. The crowds definitely get larger as we go toward Christmas. We would prefer to go the week before, but it didn't work out this year.

Hey there. Just to add my two cents. We were there last Dec 14-21. The 14 through about the 17-18th were perfect. The crowds were non existent! We walked on/hardly waited for any rides. Then the last few days it got pretty crazy. Since we had already ridden most everything and had ADR's for dinner it realy wasn't that bad. But you will notice a difference. Get all the 'big' things done the first couple of days.
For weather, we had it all. The day we arrived it was sunny and warm. Other days it was cold and cloudy. I mostly wore jeans and t-shirts, but I brought sweatshirts. We never swam, although some crazy kids did!
Check out accuweeather.com as far out as 15 days. Then you can get some kind of idea for the weather.

Have a great time! It really is a lovely time to go. We won't be going until January because of schedules and we sure are going to miss the holidays!

SSSSHHHHH!!!! :ssst: :ssst:

I'm hoping if we don't talk about it, maybe nobody will be there but us!!! :tiptoe: :tiptoe:

We'll be there those same days!!! Hoping to run before the huge crowds hit on the 23rd! A bit nervous about hitting the MVMCP on 12/19, but it's the best day for us to do it. Hopefully it won't be nuts.

and as everyone posted, earlier in the week is quieter. Volume starts building gradually until the weekend hits.

Hopefully will see a few DISers there - will be in the parks Dec. 17-21!!!

We'll be there too!! December 16th-23rd. Only the 17th-22nd in the parks. I hope the crowds hold off until after we leave :rotfl: We are also doing the MVMCP on the 19th :santa:
 Only 25 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll also be there! Dec 17th-22. Since we're leaving on Friday, we'll be in the parks from the 17th thru the 21st. Hoping it's quiet for those days! Tourguide Mike seems to think that week will be pretty low those first few days.

Nancy :thumbsup2 :surfweb: :thumbsup2

Crowds are usually pretty manageable right up until the 22nd or 23rd. But they don't get annoying until Christmas Eve. After that, it's totally downhill!!!

I'm happy to hear that I wasn't the only one that was nervous about crowds. Both times I've gone it's been in March and there were really no crowds. My DF and I are going 16th-23rd. We're planning our MK day for the 17th so hopefully we can hit it when it's least busy that week. :goodvibes

It's nice to hear about the crowd levels, sounds like we should get lucky. We will also be at the MVMCP on Dec. 19 so hopefully we can have a great time!

I plan on packing jeans and tshirts and layering with sweatshirts and a light jacket. Thanks to the DIS!! I know I will definately check Accuweather for the 15 day forecast also.

I'm so excited because I just got my Travel Docs in the mail and now I'm just waiting for MVMCP tickets and that darn planning DVD!

Thanks to everyone for the details/info.
:disrocks:

We will be there from Dec 16-23. This will be our 4th visit to WDW during that week. If you are staying on property get to the parks with Early Entry when they open, and take advantage of Late Extended Hours. If your'e staying off site, do the opposite. Plan to get to the big attractions early and make use of FASTPASS.
We will only spend 3 days at WDW Parks, 2 days at USO/IOA and 1 day at Busch Gardens in Tampa.
Be prepared for anything with the weather. We have had days of 85 and days where the high was in the 40's. When the sun goes down, so does the temperature. There can be a 30-40 degree difference for the noon temperature until the 8pm temperature.

I'm with you...be very very quiet... :rolleyes1 ...
we'll be there the 18th-26th. I'm afraid that by the end of the week we'll look like this: :crowded: but I don't care! It's still Christmas at the World! :santa:

We will be there there 12/13-12/26  I plan on packing both warm and cold clothes. In the 70's would be perfect :) From most of what I've read it will be fairly low crowds till the 23rd or 24th. I would love to read everyone's plans. Mine are..

We will be arriving on the 18th around noon and leave the morning of the 24. We are also doing the party on the 19th. We went in 04 from 12/20-12/24. It was pretyy crazy, but I think part of that was because of the way the school break came that year.

This year our school doesn't let out until the 20th, and I am guessing many schools will be like that. We are planning to get as much done as we can the first 3 or 4 days, and then just sort of see how it goes for the last. Do have ADR for LTT on the 23rd at 5:10. I am guessing it will be really packed due to the holiday and it being a Saturday.

I would love to stay as long as you, but we have to leave on the 19th to go see the relatives in JAX, Tampa, and Venice Beach. :rolleyes1 We arrive on the 13th in Orlando and fly out of Tampa on Christmas night.

Plus we were just there for 2 weeks in March, and for 2 days in Oct, so our plan is to catch all the holiday doings and the new stuff (EE -still haven't done it, both Nemo attractions, the Monsters Inc show) and enjoy the holiday atmosphere.

I am worried that I only have one ADR (CP package) but DH insists that he would rather wing it than plan our days around restaurants. We will see!

Our plan:

12/13 -
Arrive at BWV around 7:00 pm.
Light dinner at B&C or ESPN, then decorate our room and our mini-tree

12/14 -
A.M. at Epcot,
3:00 pm stop by DVC mixer at International Gateway,
then MVMCP

12/15 -
Sleep in,
resort tour to see decorations,
2:00 pm LeCellier for CP lunch package,
then 5:00 CP,
stay for Illuminations

12/16 -
Up in the air right now.

12/17 -
Meet mom and sis who are checking in at the Dolphin,
go to MGM for Osborne and Fantasmic

12/18 -
EMH at AK,
PM????

12/19 -
pick up rental car at Disney car care and go see DS & his fiance who are stationed at the navy base in JAX!

It's just going to be my DF and I. We took a trip together to WDW in 2002 so this time we're focusing on seeing things we missed and less focused on rides. Plus we're coming to meet with someone from Disney Fairytale Weddings so we can get a tour of locations we are interested in for our wedding ceremony and reception.
This is what our trip looks like:

Sat Dec 16th:
Downtown Disney and dinner at Planet Hollywood

Sun Dec 17th:
Breakfast at Chef Mickey's 10 am
MK all day
Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table

Mon Dec 18th:
Seas Aqua Tour
Epcot Day
Dinner at Coral Reef and then Candlelight Processional

Tues Dec 19th:
Segway Tour
Meet with DFTW sales manager and more epcot
Hoop Dee Doo

Wed Dec 20th:
MGM day with lunch at 50s Prime Time Cafe and dinner at Mama Melrose's then Fantasmic

Thurs Dec 21st:
Animal Kingdom day
Dinner at California Grill

Fri Dec 22nd:
day to tour resorts to see decorations and see anything we didn't have time for before
Dinner at Artist Point
Fireworks Cruise

Sat Dec 23rd:
Not leaving until 3 so maybe go sightseeing some more

I know it sounds busy but we aren't going to be able to go down for a separate planning session so we have to hit up all the restaraunts that we are considering for our reception. I always joke with my DF and say we're going backwards and taking the honeymoon before the wedding :rotfl2:
