We were up bright and early to get last minute shopping (drink, fresh fruit and veg etc.), and a frozen turkey from Asda - we got there at 8:30am and struggled to find a parking space
It was a bit packed inside with not only normal shoppers but also all the Asda staff getting on-line grocery orders. Their big carts were blocking almost every aisle!
We then hit a snag - they had no frozen turkeys left!! and no way was I spending over £35 for a fresh one
DW wanted some mincemeat for some homemade mince pies - no chance! Not a jar anywere.
So with the boot full we headed headed back to our local Coop (DW had £21 worth of dividend vouchers to spend). Only the way we stopped at Farmfoods and Somerfield - neither had turkeys or mincemeat.
By know we were panicking with visions of having beans on oast for Xmas day LOL
When we got back to the local Coop there was a paramedic's car outside and the doors were closed with a small crowd of people outside.
We parked up and walked over and someone said that a man had collapsed inside. We waited for about 30 minutes until an ambulance arrived. The staff inside were not looking very good! So I guessed that it was serious.
About 15 mins. late they rushed out with the poor chap on a trolly, straight into the back of the ambulance. The ambulance must have stayed there for a good 30 minutes. By the way it was moving I guess they were trying CPR!
They let us in a few minute later, so I didn't see or hear the ambulance leave. We did hear a few folks say that they thought the chap had died.
Very sad so close to Xmas
Must have been difficult for the shop staff to carry on as normal, especially if they had tried ti give first aid before the paramedic arrived.
We did finally manage to get a turkey and mincemeat.
