What a scene this woman made!

My dad had this framed on his office wall. I should ask my mom if she still has it someplace, I'd like to hang it on my wall. I'm sure it's yellowed and gnarly by now, but the message is still the same ! :teeth:

We flew Delta once and they did not preboard anyone and a man on crutches missing half a leg had to fight thru the crowd to board and then try to stow his carry-on bag. ARGH. Finally, DH stopped the flow of passengers in the aisle and waited for the man to get settled. He got a few dirty looks, but didn't care. It was sad and I felt bad for the man.

That's just wrong. IMHO anyone on crutches or using a cane or wheelchair, or whith a child in a car seat should be allowed to preboard. It only makes sense to allow the boarding process to go more smoothly for EVERYONE!

The show Airline has been canceled, I'm not sure if they're still showing some re-runs.

SW will, on very rare occasions, book a passenger on another airline. SW literally pays the walk up fare with a credit card. There have been some posts of people seeing it but it's exceptionally rare. I'm not sure what circumstances will cause them to do it. I know for normal overbooking they'll make you wait until the next day.

Still another reason for me to avoid SW like the plague. I'm just not frugal enough to give up what I see as the benefits of flying the legacy carriers. That may (and probably will) end one day (sooner than expected probably), but until then, I'll gladly pay the premium to avoid SW's inflexibilities.

Jet Blue has the same policy. SW is actually more flexible than the legacy airlines, you can change your reservation without paying a change fee.

I do agree if you're bumped by SW, which you can generally avoid by making sure you get a BP before you get to the airport, you're not treated as well as you would be by other airlines.

If you can get a fare you're comfortable with an airline you want to fly book it.

I think the new airline show of choice is flight attendant School on then Travel Channel. It is about Frontier Airlines and their tough training for flight attendants. It is interesting to see how some people that seem obviously not suited to a job dealing with people relate to the instructors.

I hadn't heard that Airline had been canceled. They are still showing re-runs on A&E though. Too bad, I'll have to get my "obnoxious drunk" fix someplace else!

Overall, I don't like SWA's policies. I don't like that their schedules only go about 4 months out, I don't like not having seat assignments, I don't like the no-standby policy, I don't like that they will not re-book you on another airline if the SWA flight is canceled and they can't get you on another. I understand SWA has good reasons for all of these policies, but I still don't like them. In my area, SWA's fares are not that much lower (if at all) than the other carriers, plus I'd have to fly out of Midway, and O'Hare is much closer for me. For example, DH and I are flying to Disneyland in April. We booked UA non-stop flights from O'Hare and used miles to upgrade to 1st class. We got the tickets for free through my employer (long story) but had we paid for them, they would have been $336 per person. SWA flights would be connections and are $393 per person.

One thing I do like about SWA is that they don't charge a change fee, just the differance in fare, if any, for the new flight. I wish all the airlines would do this!
