What a sad, poignant, but beautiful photo (2 of MJ kids)

I really hope he doesn't get his hands on those kids. [/FONT]

The only way to accurately describe Joe Jackson would likely get you some Dis Points.

He needs to be kept away from those kids as much as possible.

Exactly.

I feel if those kids are left w/ Katherine, he will have too much control over them for the next few years. I know they split some time ago, but he still seems to hold a lot of power over things. IDK--Maybe just me, but its the feeling I get.

I think Janet is a good choice. She has made the break from her dad, and I don't think she would allow him the power that he still seems to have over the rest of the family.

I would really rather see Debbie Rowe get them (hoping she was serious about being willing to have Blanket too), than have Katherine get them

Exactly.. I dont remember there being such rude comments about Bindi when she spoke at and attended her fathers memorial.

When Bindi spoke at her Dads memorial, it was so sweet and touching, very heartfelt, same as Paris. both girls loved their Dads, the only ones they knew. These kids are really the only ones that matter, not anyone with a negative opinion of them. Its sad people find the need to pass judgment on celebrites they never met in their lives.

It's a beautiful picture and it breaks my heart.
Michael was a good father from every single report Ive ever heard or read.

God Bless those children.

I'm one of those whose really "not a fan" of him. That being said, i don't think it was wrong for them to attend the memorial service. But, this is something that we will never know how it took place. We will never know if all of them wanted to be there. We will will never know if it was voluntary or if they were forced to be there. All we know is that Paris had very touching words to say about her father and even though i personally think he did some things that were unexcusable in his life, we can all probably agree that his kids loved him very much.

Now that being said....my one issue with this entire memorial service....the cost.. I'm sorry, but with how in debt California is, the city should not have paid for any of this memorial. It should either have been all donations, or not benn done. The city wouldnt pay for teh Lakers parade adn events but they shelled out teh money for this. That is the only issue that i have had with this entire thing.

Beautiful photo of the children, may they find peace in their hearts!

A very valid point -- the arena only held 17,000 people and tickets were available all over the world. So, it's not as if it was an event that all LA residents could benefit from or even participate in (such as a parade) -- I'm sure a lot of people around the world didn't even know where it was televised from. It would certainly be wrong for the city to then demand that all proceeds from the sale of videos of the memorial go back to them (I think it should be the kids -- since they were there), so they shouldn't have had to foot the bill in the first place.

But...who got the benefits from the media contracts? Maybe somebody already made money from this.

I agree w/ the costs that LA incurred because of the memorial. However isn't a lot of LA/Hollywood's revenues also from the stars. How much $$ has MJ, and other stars brought into the city. Seems like its a "gotta spend $$ to make $$ kind of thing.:confused3

That's a good point. I live in Pittsburgh and there were some who complained about the $70,000 in police overtime spent on each of the Steeler and Penguin victory parades. But how much money did their home playoff games bring into the city? Probably lots more than $70,000 each. Plus we have an extra 1% sales tax that goes the county, how much did they get with all the merchandise sales?

About the photo, Paris looks so mature, and loving towards her little brother. Ifthose children are kept together, I think they'll be ok. Beautiful photo that would make MJ proud.

see, thats the problem with this. The city is not gettign any money back from any of this. So the money from any merchandise that was sold (im assuming there was...i dont know...i wasnt there) adn the DVDs of the service (you all know those are going to come out eventually) goes back to the record company and such...none of it back to the city...and the thing about revenue from people coming to teh memorial service...A good number of the people were local, or at least within driving distnace so they werent staying long probabaly AND so many people avoided teh city so they probably didnt come out ahead

But...who got the benefits from the media contracts? Maybe somebody already made money from this.

AEG or whoever that company is....it sounds like the city isnt getting squat for this

The problem with the "gotta spend money to get money" thing is that there are sooo many better things that $1.4 million could have gone to that would benefit so many more people and wouldnt have been as frivolous as this

I think....If the family wanted to have a public memorial, they should have paid for it or gotten donations...end of story

I mean, yeah...im probably thinking about this too logically but when a state is in as much financial trouble as california is, this memorial service was just plain stupidity

Did Joe Jackson file for custody of the kids yesterday? I thought I heard something on the radio or CNN. Katherine already has temporary custody of the kids. Although they are still married they live apart. She stay in Cali while he lives in Las Vegas. I personally don't care for him and pray he doesn't get thim, which I am slightly sure he won't anyways. They will be just a cash cow for him.

There have been recent pics of the kids w/ MJ, without their faces covered.

As for attending the memorial--they need closure too. And why shouldn't they hear what MJ's friends and family had to say about their dad. They needed to be there.

God Bless them:hug:

I disagree, I don't think they needed to be there. They needed to be at the private memorial that they family was going to have and they needed to be at the actual funeral (burial) but they did not need to be at the Staples Center for the whole world to see them grieving.
The picture is very touching but their grieving has already turned into a media circus, the video clip of her was top story on yahoo for awhile and I'm sure its being played all over the internet now and those pics are everywhere too. A child needs to grieve but they don't need the whole world to see it to.

I just have to agree.

Another thing that came out in Latoya's article is that the kids were there when he died. :scared1:

An extremely difficult time for them, and then to be thrust in front of an audience when they weren't even used to going to school, didn't have outside friends, etc. And they actually hadn't seen many of their relatives for over a year.

Even Elizabeth Taylor didn't go to the memorial. Many of his closest friends didn't.

I read somewhere (maybe cnn?) that Joe wanted the kids to tour. Someone said he mentioned calling them The Jackson 3. It makes me sick.

And gee...I wonder who their manager would be? :scared1:

The fact that they're not MJ's bio-children might save them from this. :rolleyes1

I know. :guilty:I heard that too. :guilty:

I worry about poor old Joe meeting his maker at the hands of a devoted MJ fan who wants to protect the kids.

As horrible as Joe was/is, I think he was baited into that comment. I thought he came up with it on his own, already thinking of marketing the children, but I think in the interview he was asked several times if he thinks the kids have talent like their father Michael. It was like the reporter wanted him to say something like that.

I know he commented on their talents, but is it really true that he also said he wants to make them into the Jackson Three? I didn't hear that in the interview.

I just watched a couple minutes of "Family Secrets" on the Jacksons. The reporter asked Joe how he was taking Michael's death and he said, "It's hard. I put so much work into Michael." :sad2:
