Again, I'm not saying that you shouldn't look for warning signs or be on alert. What I am saying is that they are vague and we have to intersperse them with common sense, and most importantly, give kids the tools to know what is appropriate and what not and how to handle it.

I do hope that nobody at our school quits trying to help these kids. They need a stable adult in their life. But then, we have very specific precautions in place to protect the kids and ourselves from unfounded accusations.

It is issues like this that have made me question whether or not to continue teaching, at least at my current job. We had a situation where a student made an accusation against our speech therapist. That student was never once alone with the therapist. She has a sliding glas door to her room as well as a window that are always unblocked. She also sees kids in groups and on the day in question was never alone with that child. Thankfully we were able to prove that. But it made me think long and hard about my job and I am currently looking into other teaching positions in the district or out as I do not want to set myself up for an accusation or lawsuit.

Sometimes the ages of the victims and other parts of the situation are more attention grabbing than others but to say this female monster is any less disgusting is totally off the mark. I don't think anyone is jumping on that wagon. The fact we don't hear it as much is because it doesn't happen as frequently, that doesn't mean it's not as sickening.

Because we have had several cases of young boys having sex with teachers and the most common thing said is why are they being prosecuted and why are the boys complaining. The attitude seems to be that the boys should be thanking the perp rather than complaining.

Reading your post just made my skin crawl, its not ok, its never ok regardless of gender in any combination. Why are some people so twisted? I know you don't have the answer, no-one does but i still keep finding myself asking the question.

Would you want him to be your child's Kindergarten teacher? I sure wouldn't want Mr. Reuben around my kids. He creeps me out and he has made some collosally stupid choices. As far as I'm concerned, he's an adult entertainer. His children's show was full of double entendre and I've felt this way about him since waaaay before he 'whipped it out' in public.

You didn't ask me, but yeah, if he were qualified (degree in education), I think he'd make an excellent kindergarten teacher. I'm pretty sure all my kids teachers have pleasured themselves. Most probably haven't done it in an adult theater, but I can certainly think of worse places for them to do it.

Pleasuring themselves and doing it in public are so incredibly different. At the very least, it shows extremely poor judgement and there is no way I'd trust him with my kids. It also shows a lack of self control sexually which could indicate that he might show a lack of control with kids. I could just never trust him with children after that.

I would say that it does show poor judgement, but not extreme poor judgement. He was in the adult theater and, I'm assuming, highly aroused and most likely others were doing the same thing (and honestly, this is a little disgusting to me, but...). He should not have done it, but it was in a semi-appropriate venue (not in grocery store, at park, in car in parking lot, etc).

I don't see how that gives any indication that he'd act out sexually around children.

I hear what you're sayin' but I'll agree to disagree. There is a reason we feel disgusted by it. And it doesn't necessarily mean that he would act out around children, but the whole self-control and judgement thing can indicate that. Of course, this is only my opinion and who knows the truth? I'm just saying I wouldn't place my kids in his care in a classroom or anywhere else. I certainly don't feel that way about all males in the classroom - but this one - yeah .
