So I have my whole trip set and planned. The itinerary has been established (I'm an obsesive planner and so is DH). We were told we were staying at either the Swan or Dolphin by my sister. She is going to Orlando for a business conference and (bless her) she invited Dh and I along to share her room. We were (and are) ecstatic. Well yesterday she calls me (from California Adventure where she is attending another conference in Anaheim), and says OOoopsy...we're actually staying at the BUENA VISTA PALACE...

Where is that "fainting" smilie.... :faint: Ahhh, there it is.

So now we have no EMH (which most of our plans were based around), no free parking, and I'm staying off property (at least it's just across the street from DTD. We'll now be going there for a visit whereas before we planned to skip it).

Thank God the room is free.

Anybody have any words of encouragement? We'll still have a kick butt time and we DO have a car, but I'm disapointed we'll have to rearrange quite a bit of our schedule to eliminate EMH and that we'll probably go without park hoppers now (long story).

1) Let me get this right
. . . you are invited by your sister
. . . you are staying at WDW for free
. . . you are upset because you can't do EMH
2) The world should have such problems.

I think it'll be fine. Just avoid those EMHs, unless you want to stay late to shop and eat. The re-arranging will be a pain in the buttinski, I'm sure...but it will all work out. :)

I don't know if you're a morning person or not, but with the limited number of morning EMHs, staying offsite isn't such a hardship anymore for those who like to hit the parks early!

And if you're staying offsite, you might decide to eat out of the park and save yourself some money, too.

Have a great trip!!!!

Get to the parks early and go to those that are not EMH for that morning. YOu should do fine. Stay away from any park that is EMH in the evening---they tend to fill up. Have a great stay !

Rusty scupper: I find your comments rude This IS a WDW vacation planning board. In the grand scheme of life, the universe and everything (to coin a phrase from Hitchikers Guide...) this isn't even a blip on the radar. But when it comes to a carefully planned out vacation, it's an issue.

Some of our ADR's will need to be changed. Some of the days we planned to do things will have to be re-arranged (and we had family meeting us to spend the day at Epcot). And unlike some of the people on the DIS, we LIKE EMH and are disappointed we won't be able to do it. Sheesh, people complain about not getting towel animals, but I get flack for expressing disappointment that nearly all my planning was for naught with only a month before my trip.

Not the end of the world, but Icertainly a surprise we weren't expecting and lots of reshuffling to do. Thank GOD we didn't buy plane tickets and fly. We can't afford a rental car (we couldn't afford plane tickets either!) and it's just not possible for us to stay offsite without a car.

We stayed BVP our room was great, horrible view but that's ok. We were in the main building. We did not eat at any of the resturants, can not help you there. But it was a quick walk to DTD. And the serve was A+ front desk very pleasant & the bell hop was a awsome gave us great info, any thing you ned to know he was it, said hi everytime we saw him, as with every empolyee we saw.

You will have a great time. I have heard some rooms have killer views.

Jennasis: I don't have any advice for you, but I can commiserate. I have spent hours and hours plannning my upcoming trip. With over two months until we leave, I am sure i will spend hours more. If something happened to mess things up, not it wouldn't be the end of the world .... but it sure would bring MY world to a halt. :lmao:

I wish you well and regardless of how you got the trip or who is paying have a good time and don't worry about what others think !!!!!!!Props to you for getting to go regardless of how.. Hope it all works out... Extra pixie dust your way pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I totally understand your disappointment and frustration!!!

I had something similar happen to our January trip- DSIL asked us to join them for their WDW trip this Jan- told us we could stay with them in a 2 bedroom villa at OKW (for free!!!). 6 months later (after I had purchased the tickets, made all our ADRs, and planned out all our park days), she calls and tells us we are un-invited, because "we might be too crowded in the villa, so you can't stay with us". Aaaarrrgh!!

We went ahead and booked a super-cheapie offsite hotel since I couldn't bear to tell DD that Aunt Pam decided we weren't welcome. We did have to rearrange all our ADRs and park days, but we will still have a fun vacation. We won't be bending over backwards to spend time with DSIL and her family, though. If we see them, great- if not, even greater ;) !!

Even though you'll miss some of the onsite perks, you will still have a great time!! Have fun!!

You could always book a low cost Disney room for all or part of the week to earn the on-site benefits.

Wow....shame on aunt Pam. That was very rude. I'm glad you found a way to go anyway despite the SIL. Have a great time :cool1:

The hotel you are staying at IS on Disney property... They DO have transportation to the parks. So why can't you still meet your family at EPCOT.

I think a lot of this is lost on most of us.

Try to have fun anyway. :confused3

My biggest disappointment would be not staying at the Dolphin. What a great resort.

f7prez says : The hotel you are staying at IS on Disney property... They DO have transportation to the parks. So why can't you still meet your family at EPCOT. I think a lot of this is lost on most of us.

the OP states : So now we have no EMH (which most of our plans were based around), no free parking
I think the OP is stating they're losing out on free parking as well as the fact that they had their itinerary planned around EMH which they are now not eligible for.
I still think you'll have a great time Jennasis ! :cool1:

Ouch!! As a huge Disney fan, if I found out I was now off-site when I was expecting the Swan or Dolphin, boy would I be sad!! That would hurt quite a bit! :faint: There is very different planning involved when you are off-site as compared to being right there by Epcot! Jennasis, hope you can still have an awesome time! :wizard:

Sorry to hear about the change. It may put a damper on some things, but as you said, thankfully the room is free. Go, try to relax and above all, have fun.

Out of curiosity, when is her conference? My DH is going to a conference at the Dolphin and Swan from 10/22-25. He's staying at CBR for the conference then switching to Pop for our vacation when me and our son fly down.
