We are home now from a fabulous trip to the WL. This was our second time at the Lodge. I love when the CM at check in says "Welcome home". :goodvibes We had a lot of pixie dust this time. We were upgraded to a woods view and got into our room at 11:00am! It was a renovated room on the 6th floor. All we had requested was N/S and a higher floor. We said nothing at check in but "Hi, how are you today?" to the CM. I was just happy to be there. She said "I've got a room on the 6th floor and you'll have a wonderful view of the fireworks!" She was very friendly. :)

I loved the location and the view. Saw the fireworks perfectly every night. While the trees back there have gotten quite tall, the 6th floor is the floor you want if looking for a fireworks view. The renovated room was different and some aspects of it are better. We like it both ways. I posted a few pictures over on the FAQ thread. I loved how fresh and clean and new everything was!

I have so much unpacking and laundry to tackle! Ahh... that's for tomorrow.
Any question you have I'd be happy to try and help!

Welcome back (as opposed to Welcome Home  ), ADisneyGirl!

With only 19 days to go, there isn't anything you can talk about that I won't be interested in :dance3: But the first thing that comes to mind (that you haven't already answered in the FAQ Thread) is...

-Was the TV able to receive an HD signal, or did it just stretch the regular signal? (sorry...I'm just an HDTVphile...honestly, I won't watch much TV while DW and I are there!!!)

Don't do the laundry...just stay on the DIS Boards

Not OP but when we stayed at YC in April there was no HD available anywhere. Unfortunately the Disney television selection leaves something to be desired.

Ronald Duck:
No HD signal. And as the other poster said, the tv selections are very limited at WDW. We're not there to watch tv of course, but I would have appreciated some HGTV at night to fall asleep to.

19 more days, huh? Care to take me back along with you? I miss the WL already.

Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation! My family and I will be staying at WL from 6/11-6/19. :woohoo: I have a question......did you eat at the newly renovated Roaring Fork? Have they changed the menu?

Yes, we ate there almost every day at some point, and yes they have changed their menu a bit. I enjoyed the chicken salad with apple walnut vinagrette dressing a lot. They had another salad too, but I don't remember the name since I didn't have it! They offer thick sandwiches too - I remember ham with cheddar, a roast beef with ? and a turkey one on a big multi grain roll type bread. Actually, I think they had it in a sandwich ring, and cut a big wedge out for you. What isn't really better is the hot food side. They had chicken strips w/fries, hamburger or cheeseburger or bacon double cheeseburger w/ fries. In the past you ordered and the hot food was made and sent out the back window into the dining area for you fresh. Now they make things ahead of time and it sits on a warmer tray. They get so much action there that the food rarely sits for long, but I still liked it better the other way.

I was surprised to find that they didn't offer Mickey waffles at breakfast. Can't remember if they did in the past, but they have them at the Swan and at AKL's Mara food court, so I guess I expected to see them here. The other hot breakfast items included a scrambled egg platter with bacon, hash brown potatoes and a biscuit. The kids meal was either a Mickey head shaped plate with some scrambled eggs, bacon and an applesauce, or pancakes, bacon and applesauce. They also had pastries, bagels, toast, muffins, oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt and fruit.

They offer a lot more healthy choices now it seems. There was a refrigerated section and I saw cut up vegetable cups to buy, fruit bowls, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs. They make yogurt parfaits to order too. You can tell them what fruit you want in it.

It sounds so wonderful! Do you remember your room number by chance? princess:

So glad you enjoyed your stay! :goodvibes I've read conflicting reports on the chili..do you recall seeing if they had it? Also, did you try the new soft serve ice cream machine?? Thanks!

Hi Glad you had a great trip. Considering WL and want to know if Roaring Fork is a food court type of place. We are used to CBR or POR and we like having the refillable mugs and toasters and stuff like that. I enjoy a toasted bagel and I loved that I could buy a bagel and toast it! Can we get hot chocolate and hot tea there too?

Thanks!

We leave this Friday! So excited -- it sounds like they have a lot more healthy things at Roaring Forks, which is really great news! :thumbsup2

we have never stayed here, but have some friends that might this summer. did you find the pool to be very crowded, i know summer is diff. but thats what they were wondering about.

LisaRN~Yes, there still is chili. It was there everyday next to the sandwich area. They also had a soup everyday, usually vegetable but one day we saw potato cheese. We did try the soft serve too -- yummy!

Cmbar~Yes, RF is a food court type place, but no where near the size of CBR's. They do offer bagels, toast, english muffins and they have a couple of toasters in the eating area to use. Two microwaves too. (they sell microwave popcorn) They had a hot chocolate machine, hot tea, iced tea, coffee decaf and reg., and coke products.

joll43~ How exciting for you! Hope you have as great a time as we did! :wizard:

Dopey's twin Dippy~ the pool did seem a little crowded the day we spent at the resort around 2-4, but not too bad. In the morning it was pretty empty and the evenings thinned out at dinnertime. The hot tubs got crowded at night after the slide closed and a lot of kids left. One night someone was smoking a stinky cigar in the hot tub and the smell was wafting all over the pool area. We had to leave the pool.

WL is on the short list of resorts that we're considering for our #2 trip in March '07. We're traveling with another family that has to be a little more budget-conscious and we're HOPING they pick WL. That's where DH and I REALLY want to stay but we're deferring to our friends for their choice. They're wanting CS or WL.

Reading all these wonderful posts about WL makes me so excited! GOOD THOUGHTS! GOOD THOUGHTS!
