What a Difference in Price!

I have compared the cost of what we are paying for our 1 week at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas and 2nd week onsite at Beach Club Resort with free DDP and 14 day Ultimate ticket for price of 7 with Complete Orlando compared to Virgin Holidays. Thats for 5 of us 45, 42,19,17 &14 (3 adults, 2 children)

We are paying £493 for 1 week Cypress Pointe, £1834 for 1 week Beach Club with DDP and £1270 for the Disney Tickets. Total = £3597

Couldn't compare Cypress Pointe as Virgin do not offer it, so could only compare the rest of it.

Virgin want £4217.40 for same week at Beach Club and £1274.26 for Tickets = £5491.66

so to compare just the 1 week (that didn't include flights) - thats a difference of £2390.66!!

How can Virgin Holidays charge so much? Even if I'd have paid for DDP, Complete Orlando would have still been the cheaper option!

This has been my typical experience with Virgin quotes since ever!

In 2010 I rang them for a comparative quote and there was a difference of over £2k for two of us!

I recall posting on here about it too, thinking I might be missing something

I had the same experience when pricing up a package to WDW this year, managed to get a far cheaper quote from another agent than direct with Virgin, but what I couldn't understand is that as well as staying in exactly the same hotel, it was still flying with Virgin on the same flight number, yet was nearly a £1000 cheaper! How is that possible???

virgin advertithat they offer a prie match but when i queried it before they pretty much accused me of my thomas cook quote been fake as there is no way you can stay onsite at disney for 5 less than 10 k they was so snotty , would not even bother using there website to do quotes anymore

Yeah and they forget your meals on their flight and nobody in their call centre speaks English when you call to speak to someone at VH .....

Virgin Atlantic I will fly with if the price is right - I don't think they are awful - just standard as airlines go. It all comes down to price for me. But VH packages? Forget it. I don't even bother to price up a quote with them anymore

Ive mentioned it a few times recently.
Ive always booked with Virgin as their prices have been the same or cheaper than other quotes I had.
However this year Ive priced up holidays for 2013, they are over £2,000 more than anyone else.
I cant understand it. when I first got the price, I asked them if there was an error or a glitch on the website.

It's still cheaper all round to book direct with Walt disney travel company u.k, they are 2k cheaper than anyone else because your cutting out the middle man. Go on the wdw website and get a flight inclusive quote and take a look at the difference.

I think years ago they were good but now they are just like any other company and trying to get as much out of you as they can..lets be honest people really trust this brand and you hear them say to you 'I am so excited I have just booked with Virgin Holidays' they don't tell you where they booked just with whom!! But I think they need to tread carefully with the Floriday prices now because people really are looking for a fair price nowadays and I tell EVERYBODY that will listen not to book direct with them. Our friends are looking to go to WDW for the first time and its been hard convincing them that they really will save loads by doing it DIY..but they seem to want the 'rockstar treatment' more I think first timers like the safty of it all and no hassle. I am one to talk though because I am actually going with VH this year..I confess I was caught in a very weak and depressing moment and the book landed on my door mat and that was that...total blonde moment Prone to stupidity when depressed, mind you it hasn't worked out TOO much over the odds, not £1000's but about £400 and that is after I take off the £300 gift card otherwise it would have been £700!!!!!!

I think, and it may just be me, but Virgin don't really have a massive presence up here in Scotland. I'd actually go as far as saying they're nearly unheard of up here. The other Scots may see it differently as granted they do now fly direct to Orlando from Glasgow, and I believe they're starting from Edinburgh, so I guess people who are travel agent regulars will know of them.

I have had the exact same reaction whilst pricing up my holiday. Virgin was almost twice as expensive as the same holiday from the Disney Official website! It used to almost unheard of that buying directly from Disney was cheaper! No idea how virgin can do that I even looked o their sister site Travel City and they used to be so cheap! Not anymore!

I'm not saying it wouldn't be welcome but at the moment Virgin only fly from Glasgow on Saturday's and Sunday's (I believe) and at peak times, ie. April to September. So for those of us who like to take advantage of going outside of school holidays they just don't really cater for that.

We haven't booked a package in years, but was just interested in comparing to see the price difference - Virgin just can't justify charging that much more.
I priced a 2 week package staying onsite at Beach Club and they wanted over £13k for the 5 of us (which is why we compromised 1 week offsite and 1 week onsite).
I chose Complete Orlando as they allowed me to pay a smaller deposit and to make payments at any time, but its not actually due until 8 weeks before we go. Disney direct were £95.05 cheaper of which £92.05 was a discount for purchasing hotel and ticket together. So there's 2 companies charging less than Virgin. I'm sure if they looked themselves they would see just how ridiculous they are being charging that much more.

VH just don’t appear to be competitive this year, we have also booked with CO, saving thousands of pounds.

Just done a quick comparison Disney UK versus Virgin. Room and tickets only

2 weeks OKW 28 sep 2013 in a one bed villa
Virgin £3985.68
Disney £3270.40

Thats a difference of £715.28

Not sure if Virgin offer the same room discount as Diseny but thats still a big chunk of change.

We have never booked a package to go to Disney always done DIY. They have never worked out cheaper for us in anyway.
