What A Difference A CM Makes--Fantastic 12-Day Trip

After a couple of not-so-great (and one really bad) WDW trips, I'm just back from a 12-day jaunt to WDW that epitomized Disney Magic--all due to wonderful CMs (and yes, I got their names and will write to Disney to rave about them) and extraordinarily "nice" treatment at every turn.

It was "just the way it used to be" back (about 100,000 years ago) when I first starting going to Disney.

I encountered the usual number of glitches and issues--none of the incidents was "huge" but each was resolved in a way that left me saying "oh how I love Disney!"

One specific example: arrived for an early swim to an empty pool/pool area (the quiet pool at Millers Road at OKW)...just as I was getting ready to get into the pool, the pool cleaners arrived (this was around 6:45 a.m., just 15 minutes before "official" pool-opening)...no, I couldn't get in the pool, but that message was delivered w/an apology and a promise to be done w/in 10 minutes if I cared to wait followed by another expression of regret that I'd been inconvenienced...SOOOO different from the snarled "get out; you can't be here" w/no explanation when I was at Wilderness Lodge last year...

Another example: I had a relatively complicated check-in for just one night at GFV on Monday...the CM helping me went out of his way to be pleasant, to find a way to resolve my issues (he did), and to make me feel like "OF COURSE" he/Disney would do everything they possibly could to make what I wanted to happen doable...

And a third example: The CM who politely and regretfully denied me entrance to the pool at the Grand Floridian early Tuesday morning, because he needed to clean it, with an apology -- who then came back an hour later (after I'd returned, at the time he said I could) to apologize again for making me wait and to thank me for be willing to wait...

It's "just attitude" but oh wow what a difference that attitude makes...

My whole just-concluded 12-day trip was magical to the nth degree...the usual number of glitches (non-working magic bands. etc) but each and every one met w/a CM who made me feel like nothing but nothing was too much trouble for them to do for me...I think I smiled non-stop for 12 entire days!

It feels so good to have my great love for Disney reinforced so very thoroughly! I do love Disney!!! (But for all you Wilderness Lodge lovers: you have one less person competing for those few DVC rooms over there; I'll never ever willingly go back there, even if it means giving up a trip to Disney! The nasty way I was treated over there last year was the exact opposite of the truly outstanding way I was treated at OKW and GFV this trip!--so WLV is all yours) Thank you, Disney, for going back to "make the guest feel special"...I loved it, and I love you!

Comparing now to then can be difficult when Disney now outsources many jobs including valet, restaurants, food kiosks, security, landscaping, probably pool cleaning, bag check in, and many other Disney jobs are now staffed by temporary and part time CM's.

It's a different business, so glad that you received Disney magic.

We are on DCL after 2 nights in 1 bedroom at BWV, had great experiences in both places! The F&G displays are amazing, the Star War fireworks are unbelievably special!

Glad your Disney trip was so great! Ours has been as well, and we have 1 more night on board!

Really? That's pretty shocking! So, many of the staff are not Disney employees?
