What a change a few months makes on these boards

I was on these boards quite a bit in Sept., Oct., and Nov. as I did a little mini October trip (which despite not grabbing any regular fast passes, not having fast
pass plus, and staying offsite was a total blast). But these boards were soooo depressing. Almost every post was about FP+ and how horrible it was.

I didn't know if / when I'd ever be back to Disney again and even took disboard.com off of my favorites bar, due to no trip and the site being such a downer.

But OMG, I was under budget on a big spring break trip and I just got DS's college fall and spring semester schedule, and saw we could do an Orlando trip the week before Christmas week, before the big crowds. So I started planning my budget Orlando trip and got back on these boards. Yes, there are still complaints about FP+, but people seem to be so much more balanced in what they are saying. And to my delight, there is actually discussion about other planning topic too. I just added www.disboards.com back to my favorites bar. lol

I like to think of it like a shiny turd. I'll make do with it.

hehe...do.

I hear you! I come back here each spring (after a hiatus from September - March) in time to make my ADRs and check up on new info for our annual fall trip. We didn't get Magic Bands last year (still had the old fashioned Key to the World cards) and we're not huge FP people. We do RD, get FPs for the ride or two we reeeally want bright and early (with little kids, this is not such a huge deal) and move along. Now that the kids are starting to latch on to the more popular rides (and not just Toy Story Mania!), I'm starting to read more about FP+. I'm afraid. Very afraid. :faint:

Has anyone come across a good way to do it? I have to go research the daylights out of this, as I have no idea what I'm doing...

There is a thread by Mesaboy2 ... best thread regarding FP+.

Eventually the shock subsided and we all became really use to playing in the feces.

Some of us still think it stinks. But we are learning to apply coping mechanisms :)

While I don't care for the way it's changed the way I have to plan, there are people who really like it. If you're looking for positive input and suggestions on how to make it work, the link to Mesaboy2's (awesome!) thread posted above along with reports from those who like it and suggestions on threads for strategies to improve the experience will be useful to you. :)

I suspect you'll also find that a lot of us have just quit commenting. I've stopped reading the LONG threads -- although when they're new, I usually look at the first page of comments.
Do not like fast pass plus. Figure I have to deal with it as best we can for our next trip, just a month away. It doesn't suit our style of doing Disney and NO we aren't one of "those people" who hogged (?) fast pass before.
So for what it's worth, we can't change the FP system now in place, so we'll do the best we can and suspect we won't like it any better after experiencing a week at Disney.
Until all this came about, we were looking forward to our trip. Now, not so much. And no, I don't need a class in how to work with FP+ or how to change with the times. Thanks, anyway.
:crazy2:
