What a Bummer....

If you can swing one night, you get two days FOTL. Pass does not expire until park closing on check out day. THis is how we swing it.....

Also ask for triple A discount, it is quite large (80$ for my upcoming trip).

I know it is alot but, it really is worth the extra bucks.

I've never found Universal to be too difficult without FOTL. We often can't afford the Loew's hotels either but we just stay offsite and plan carefully.

Of course, Harry Potter could change all that but I would still go (and plan to) and hit the parks at opening. We always get a lot done in those first few hours.

IN terms of the cost comparison with disney, everyone keeps mentioning the park ticket prices of only $99 for the whole week. I just don't see going to the same 2 parks for an entire week. At disney you get 4 parks. So factoring in the $99, you also have to add in Sea World or wherever else you want to go. It would be nice if out of the 3 Univ hotels, one was a little cheaper, since they do all appear more to be like Disney Deluxe.

Hi

we will be staying in a villa/home for our 2 weeks stay, but booking one night for the 2 days FOTL access - we may/may not actually bother to stay overnight depending how tired the kids get (if they are REALLY tired we can share a room - if not ...... mmmm that's why we stay in a multi bed villa!)

I am kind of glad they don't have a cheaper hotel, would make even MORE people want to stay for the FOTL stuff and make it less "worth it" for me.
May be snobbish - but WTH - it's what we all think.....

You can't get two days at Disney for $99, though, so you certainly can't factor in Sea World or anything else, as you wouldn't be able to do more than two parks at Disney for still more than the price of a week at Universal.

That's true, you're right.

And you sure can't park hop at Disney without paying lots of extra for it :rolleyes1

Maybe its' cramming into the values with 5 that makes you a grumpy family of five...

Sure there are 4 parks but there are only a few rides at each park worth re-riding. In our eyes, there are just as many rides at Universal's two parks that we like as there are in Disney's 4 parks.

We do those two parks at Unversal for at least 3 days twice a year and haven't tired yet.

It all depends on what you find enjoyable in a ride.

haha,funny;)
we've actually stupidly tried that once, then learned to ask for 2 connecting, with the Fl rest. rate it's still cheaper then the suite at ASmu.

I understand trying to go on vacation with a family of five and not breaking the bank. The only way we can do it is to go off season. We never vacation during school vacations and rarely during the summer. We will be staying at RPR in a couple of weeks and the rate we are paying is only about $50/night more than a value at WDW. Cheaper than a moderate.

We can still legally fit a value room because our youngest is not three but-yuck. The rooms are so small, we would not have a nice time crammed in that tiny room.

We usually stay off-site when visiting US/IOA. There are many nice, reasonable hotels close by. We love staying on Major BLVD because of the easy access to US.

I am glad you read my post as it was intended :-)

You have big "kids" and even a room at RPR is only 335 sq ft, which is close to what pop is, so it would be crowded...

That soon will be us.. so we are cramming into one room for as long as we can, which isnt much longer lol

Yes the days of us staying in one hotel room are numbered. I think our upcoming trip will be the last time. I am hoping that RPR rooms are bigger than Pop. I thought Pop was 260 sq. ft and RPR is 335 sq. ft. It's going to be a hard week if my info is wrong. I will just have to spend more time at Margarittaville.:drinking1

Any future trips to Disney will have to be off site. I have been looking at Bonnet Creek and it looks very nice. Much better on the budget too.

Subscribing. I just posted a similar question. The family of 5 delima is one that seems to be asked quite frequently. I mention this issue whenever someone is thinking of having a third child. :rotfl: We won't be going until 2011 but thinking about the trip seems like a better idea than doing :laundy: which is what I should be doing now. :rolleyes1
