What’s going on with resort dining reservations?

I think we can all agree that they haven’t loaded times for most of the January dates which should be bookable right now. My friend set up a TP alert as did I, but my dates won’t start to be checked for a bit. If anyone notices ADR’s popping up for January at the resort hotels, please let the rest of us know.

There were ADRs for multiple resort restaurants until about noon yesterday when it changed to only Rix. And there was a lot of availability on Saturday - you might have had to search for a larger party, but unless you're talking CRT where you have to prepay, NBD.

Something my DH mentioned could be going on but I doubt it...not to this extent anyway. This morning he mentioned that we might want to book Jan or Feb and asked if we could upgrade our Nov 28th 3 day park tix to APs. I said APs aren't for sale right now. So he said, well we can go and get out of the cold and use our points (DVC that have been stacking up do to cancellations) and just do a resort stay, booking resort dining. I mentioned this glitch and he said maybe a lot of folks are doing the same thing. Using up points or modified CRO stays in early Jan when work is slow. Or, in DH's case, before having to return to the office (he was just told WFH is extended through to March). I would think the DS places would be booked up too though. Unless they are doing a higher capacity than the resort venues which could be the case.

I don’t think this is it simply because NOTHING is available at any resort restaurant (except for Rix) for any time of the day for 60 days +10. There’s no way all restaurants are booked in the middle of January which is a weird time to go. I plan on calling this morning to see what’s going on. If the wait is super long though, I won’t wait on hold for over 10 minutes.

Agree. There is availability for a lot of park and Springs restaurants. It's literally just the resort ADRs which have gone MIA.

It looks like there is nothing at most of the resort hotel restaurants starting on 1/3 for any day at any time. So annoying.

Between the timing of this with it being at the start of 2021 and the now infamous ADR glitch, it makes you wonder if Disney has something up their sleeve and they're messing with something in the background. I wonder if they are redesigning the way ADRs are reserved. Or everything could just be late to load. Very strange indeed.

My guess is that it's just their glitchy IT again. They may have some of the worst IT for a company their size.

I just got off the phone with member services for DVC because the wait for the main Disney dining line was over 60 minutes. No way I was waiting that long. My guess is that they're being flooded with calls about this now that it's Day 2 of the issue. The very nice CM at MS went in and checked herself and said they "must be doing something to the system" for there to be no availability at any of the resort restaurants starting 1/3. She said they didn't have any information on what was going on but that she would let her superiors know to disseminate the information to other CMs. She was honestly pretty shocked that nothing was available when they hadn't received any kind of notice from Disney about what was going on if it had been like this since yesterday. She said they usually receive information about things like this. While she couldn't help me out, I feel like it's good to let them know that something is going on because you honestly never know if they are completely oblivious to an IT glitch until someone calls.

Yeah, like I said, the person I chatted with said she "had not been made aware of anything" and gave me a number to call for dining. I said - very politely - that she might want to alert her supervisor to check into it because it was being pretty widely reported on the internet.

Today is our 60 day window, I told my husband there has to be a glitch. There are restaurants not showing up that I know usually have tons of availability.

I tried the chat feature for dining, and it was a bust for me too. The person on there said he had very limited access to anything. What is the purpose of chat exactly???

Unfortunately for phone CMs, if it’s not their department, they usually don’t get notifications or alert higher ups. And remember, there really isn’t a dining ADR call center department anymore, they shuffled all those people around last year when they went to online mainly for ADRs. So when you call for dining you’re usually getting resort, add ons, or front desk help phone center CMs who are just helping out the queue. It’s going to take a lot of people to call and report it for most of the call centers to really start to know about it because it just isn’t on their radar.

The chat people are there for very basic questions. The chats are manned by the same people that assist front desk staff when they have to call the “back office” and the same people that when you pick up your in room phone and press the front desk button you are talking to. They have access to more in depth systems, but usually not the full reservation system. They are more for general help while their call queue is low. That’s also why the chat goes down so often between noon and 5 EST as that is the time their phone queue usually fills with check ins and front desk issues.

This issue has been going on for a week as I had problems since last Tues when my first window opened up.

Ugh. When I called, they had no idea. I think the more people who call the better. However, I understand not wanting to wait on the phone for over an hour to talk to them. I set up a TP alert and will just find out that way I guess unless a nice person on this board lets us know if they see the reservations open up. It's so strange that you can book at all the park restaurants but not the resort ones. I mean, I am seeing Oga's, CRT, BOG, Brown Derby, H&V, Sci-Fi, you name it but nothing for the resort restaurants. With everything else going on right now and all the other concessions we are having to make regarding Disney trips because of COVID, you'd think they would try to make all these booking processes as easy and stress-free as possible. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Il Mulino and Rix are the only 2 resort restaurants. Still. SO strange. I can get Trattoria, the Wave, Ale and Compass, Olivias, Sanaa, Bluezoo as well as Rix and Il Mulino for Dec 1st which I have been watching as I need a 7:30ish dinner for that night. But can't get them for 5 weeks later!?!?!?

My 60 day was Saturday and I got A&C, Topolino's breakfast, Chef Mickey's, and Trattoria breakfast.

As late as 11:30am yesterday there were still lots of resort ADRs showing up for 2 and 4 people Jan 6-11, but when I checked around 1ish suddenly ONLY Rix was showing up. Something has definitely glitched.

But @LadybugsMum above said she has had problem since last Tuesday when her window opened.

IDK. I had resort things showing up until yesterday.

Last Tuesday is not surprising because isn't that when they were dealing with the random opening of all of them?
