What’s for Dinner Tonight?

we ended up making tacos out of the smoked chicken so I made some black beans and rice to go with them.

Tonight we’ll be going to one of the local Japanese Steakhouses for Hibachi. Tomorrow is my birthday, but we’re celebrating today.
Happy birthday!!

I recently learned how to make hibachi though when I do it is not as fun to watch!! Enjoy your day!!

Tonight we are having grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, corn with jalapeño. I harvested my first bag of potatoes today.

It was also nice and cool early so I pulled all the cucumber plants out of the garden and gave it a good weeding.

Woohoo @LoveDaisy way to go girl with that bountiful garden!!

Ok, so it’s hot here. But, I had some pantry and fridge items I need to use up before we head out to Nashville later this week. So, I made up a minestrone soup. My neighbor brought over one of her beautiful sourdough loaves earlier this morning, so voila! Dinner is served.

Happy Sunday, y’all!!! 🥖🍲☀️🥰

Lovely weather today with no signs of rain or clouds. Made shopping on Arthur Avenue worthy even if I need to return again soon. Unfortunately, several shops were closed so back I’ll go sooner rather than later.
Was able to get some pine nuts so made some pesto this afternoon and used a bit to season a poached chicken, peach and cuke salad. Finished the spoonbread for dessert.

Been away for an extended weekend, so I've eaten plenty of pizza, buffets, diner food and food truck stuff (wasn't all bad, but I'm paying for it now).

Tonight will be American Chop Suey. We haven't had it in a long time, but a post here reminded me about it, so here we go! Our son is away for work until the end of the week, so this should last us for several meals.

Last night, Bourbon Chicken, from Cook's Country. I make this every couple of weeks. It comes together quickly, and is delicious. I always add a large pinch of red pepper flakes because I like spicy.

Do you use chicken thighs?

I too like to add some red pepper flakes to almost everything. Sometimes, I go a little overboard and my wife is usually the first one to notice

Leftover salad today. Added mesclun to the chicken pesto to fluff it up a bit. A cup of cream of broccoli soup lowered the amt of freezer goods and still perks my appetite.

Have garbanzo and Great Northern beans to finish soaking and simmer for the freezer. Planned to make soups with them (I could live off of soup exclusively, lol) but plans have changed for the good.
In the next week or so I’m off to France and possibly UK courtesy of youngest son. He’s in charge of booking everything and my only responsibility is to have my bags packed ASAP. I know I’ll be in Normandy because his cousins own a home there via their dad and that’s where they spend August vacations generally. Only disappointment is DGD will already have started school in Paris. Other than that I’m an extremely happy woman.
