My husband started watching this and I got addicted to it. We watched the marathon on Friday to get us excited for this Friday. I can't wait to see what is going to happen this season. It is such a crazy reality show!!!

While I love this show ... I'm probably watching it for the wrong reasons. I stand behind the idea of protecting the whales and I think it's horrible what the fishing fleets do to them.

But personally I find Paul Watson an incompetent, lying sack who takes advantage of a well meaning but ill prepared crew. Just my option though. No matter what, it brings well needed attention to the whaling problem.

I totally agree with you!! I love how they are trying to save those wonderful whales but I kinda think they go about it totally wrong. I guess they need all the drama and action or they wouldn't have a show. Tonight was ok, I think it is going to get much better in the coming weeks.

I'm all for saving the whales, I really believe in that, but I only watch the show because it's like watching the 3 Stooges on the high seas! They are the biggest bunch of incompetent, bumbling idiots I've ever seen. I honestly never laugh as much at a reality show as I do that one.

honugirl, the stuff that goes on drives my coast guard hubby batty! he is always yelling at them thru the tv!
he keeps saying he is going to volunteer for a campaign to whip them into shape for doing the job they are doing!

if it wasn't so scary it would be funny.

I don't think that's a fair assessment of the show...they do an awesome job with the limited resources they have...glad you find others passions humorus.

He didn't say their passion was humorous. He said the way they are acting and going about it is a joke and he's right.

I can imagine it drives your USCG Husband batty! I was in the auxiliary for awhile and everything they do goes against the training I had to crew with them. 98% of the things they do are completely unsafe. The scary thing is that they do this in the Antarctic Ocean away from any viable help options.

Do you think sailing an single hulled vessel into an ice pack is an awesome job? It's dangerous and it's STUPID! It's putting everyone's life at risk including those who might have to try and rescue them, if that's even possible. They have tried to foul the props of the other ships and end up almost fouling their own prop, which in the Antarctic is basically a death sentence. They wanted to put a sharpened grappling hook in a rubber Zodiac and they regularly lose contact with the small boats. When a Captain takes his crew out, it's his job to make sure they ALL make it home safe. Captain Watson doesn't do that.

The Coast Guard has a saying, "They have to go out, but they don't have to come back." As a boater, it's up to you to make sure that you don't put someone else's husband, brother, sister, mother, father, etc.'s life in danger by your stupidity. The Sea Shepherds need to be more responsible about how they're going about their business.

I agree that we should save the whales, they've given me hours of enjoyment down on the Oregon Coast. But seriously, the Sea Shepherds are going to get themselves killed due to their own incompetency. They've been lucky up until now.

Actually, I don't think being passionate to the point of being willing to risk one's life was what was being called into question here. What was being called into question was the futility of risking one's life because of choosing to do things that are unsafe when better means exist.
