Hello everyone. I will be going to disneyworld / univeral studios this September. I want to ride all the rides and then some! However I always have problems with rides. I hate the height the turns the upside downess all makes me woozy and the drops make me feel like uggg this sucks. I don't want to feel that way though. Should I take medicine in advance?
:confused3
If so what kind and when should I start taking it. I don't want to ruin my first trip to Orlando.:cool1: I want to have lots of fun. I will be going with my husband. I ususally get headaches and woozyness after six flags rides but I also never rest my head on the head rest. I am turning trying to brace myself. Please help me!

The most recommended relief here is bonine or less-drowsy dramamine (which are the same formulation). I find starting the night before works well for me.

I use ginger pills.. It's oddly one of the only things that helps me. And like Damo, I start the nite before as well

We cant even get meclazine up here anymore. Imma gonna load up while down there:hippie:

I would definitely suggest you take something the night before. I am going to try the ginger chews this time and bring Bonine, which I don't think makes you as drowsy as Dramamine. They also have those Seabands you can wear on your wrist...works for some people. If you are planning on taking Dramamine though make sure you bring some from home. When we were there last December we had to buy it in the gift shops and all they had was the regular kind...not the less drowsy. I felt tired all the time, but I didn't get a headache or feel nauseas from the rides, so it was worth it to me. If you are prone to motion sickness, beware of the buses. We were there last December during the record cold. We're from Minnesota, so we didn't think low 40's and 50's in December was that bad, especially when we left behind -10, but they had the heat cranked so high on those buses, then you cram it full of people...ughhh!!! I don't even want to think about the 10 days we had to deal with it. Don't get me wrong, Disney transportation is awesome, it was just a combination of weather, crowding, and motion sickness. Hoping for warmer weather this December :goodvibes

I'm not sure I understand what you're doing -- you're turning your head to the side? are you closing your eyes too? I would keep my eyes open and facing forward to ease motion sickness.

I second Bonine. I took it all week on a cruise and had no side effects. Why isn't it available in Canada any longer??? :scared1:

Our major anti nausea med. is Gravol (same formulation as normal dramamine---dimenhydrinate) in its various forms. I guess its popularity keeps the meclizine brands unnecessary.

I've used the scopalomine patch. You have to put it on 4 hours before you'll need it, but you can take it off as soon as you are done riding. I have vertigo, so always travel with it, just in case. Since I also get motion sick, I'm planning to use it for FJ and probably will leave it on until I go on Simpsons and Spiderman.

The only down side for me is that if you get it on your fingers and then rub your eyes your vision goes blurry, so I have to be careful not to touch it.
