Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Vegas we go.
The first leg of the trip will focus on Joshua's soccer tournament. It turned out better than we anticipated although we once again played a team who ended up being under investigation for lying about their players' ages.

I don't know why but our experiences have shown that there are more than a few dirty teams in Vegas boy's soccer. Its sad really.
We left about 9 am and first stop less than 2 miles away? Starbucks.

Its just impossible. Its a tradition!
The drive to Vegas, before stops, generally takes between 6.5-7 hours depending on traffic. I packed a cooler with stuff for sandwiches, some fruit, water bottles, and some good munchies. I am by no means a health nut but eating fast food on the road makes me feel gross as all get out! The turkey sandwiches hit the spot and we only stopped a few times for gas.
The drive is uneventful until you get to Southern Utah and the pretty red rock. Michael pointed this out; it looks like a the real life Radiator Springs Racers. Too fun! He was already in the Disney spirit.
About 5.5 hours later and we were finally out of Utah and into:
There is something ridiculously freeing about being out of Utah.
The canyon was uneventful we were in Nevada before we knew it.
I didn't take a ton of pics throughout the tournament. The boys ended up winning one, tying one, and losing one. The one they lost was to the team that cheated. Bummer and we didn't make it to the playoffs. Here's a brief recap in no order:
The first stop out of Utah is almost always to a grocery store because of this:
See in Utah the government decides when and where you can buy booze. Blue Laws and then some. There is literally zero separation between church and state here. None, Zip. Zero. Zilch. I like to buy apples and beer in the same trip.
Michael and Joshua surveying the field before the first game:
The boys in the pool after their win! They are at such a FUN age. That night we ended up ordering pizza for the boys and just hanging out. Some of the parents actually left the hotel to go to dinner/shopping without telling me or Michael which I found super rude and super crappy. We weren't there to babysit without our knowledge.

The boys are all 12-13 but still. Rude rude rude. And very common here. Good boys though and they had a blast.
We drove by this sign daily. I finally snapped a pic and told Michael: it's the only time he'll ever get his own way!
A couple of our center mid:
He played really well. When we got home we received a text from the coach saying that there were four boys who really were the engine of the team and Joshua was one of them. See the band on his arm? He's the captain this season. He works very hard and really loves the game.
And finally a little toes in the water shot. Our hotel was a typical Hampton Inn but the pool was pretty good.
We ended up eating at Grimaldi's Pizza and it was AMAZING! If you get the chance, don't miss it. The pizza is NY style thin and crispy.
We ate breakfast both days at the hotel. Lunch was the remaining sandwich components from the drive which was perfectly fine with Joshua and Chloe. They are very good kids; grateful and not demanding. I truly don't know how I got so lucky.
To be continued......
